Possibly, yes. I just find it odd he doesn't seem interested in moulding Carroll. Coaches love to think of players as malleable, yet Rodgers appears to be reluctant to try to work with such a prospect. All speculation, of course - I hope it turns out to be no more than that.

He's got 4 years left on his contract, they'd never be able to afford his current wages either. He'll want to prove his worth no doubt.
If he stays, LFC as a club would have to play him at times to not allow further depreciation of their asset come next summer, whilst still paying out 80k per week.
He's in a far stronger position than his club, so if he has any ambition to prove his worth, he'll stay and play out of his skin, then do a Xabi and tell the club to F off.

Carroll is a limited footballer. Rodgers obviously was players who can interchange in different positions so they are harder to mark. intelligent footballers who drag defenders out of position. Carroll is not that player and i hope he's sold.
