I would not go so far as to say I feel sorry for them, but I get your drift Spidey. I think the problem is on here , and I am possibly not completely guiltless, although some make an art-form of it - some people always have to have the last word.

For what its worth I think he's a good player and certainly better than we've had before.

I don't much care if he's not as good as Barnes was. Not many players are.

Comparing with seriously good players from the past is not only futile but potentially very depressing.

He's an improvement I guess and so is Downing to a certain degree. But do I think he's good enough for a team with title aspirations? No.

Is he good enough for a team that finished 6th, not even qualifying for Europe and is looking to get into the top 4 though?

Makes me wonder where we would have finished with better wingers.
However our team wasnt that shit when we finished 2nd. Pennant had left. We had Benayoun who I rate quite highly and Riera who had a decent season. So it doesnt really make a good example IMO.

I actually do think Adam Johnson has the potential to be a good player for us as I've already said pages back. I disagree with Modo

I'm not calling him a 'twat' because of it though.

I'm glad that's settled then.
