Virgiling on the vandijkulous

You'd think comparing quality would effect the fee.

But, if you want to compare other aspects:
Bruno Martins Indi has got one year left on his contract and could have left for free next season. Which he reportedly said he could do to force a move this summer. Porto are also in need of money, see the Ruben Neves deal.

Van Dijk. 5 years left on his current contract and is playing for a club that doesnt want to sell, and pretty much have all the cards in this deal unless they get a ridiculous fee.

Its quite simple. Difference in quality, contractual situation and the stance from the selling club.

Imagine a world where you could come on here and not have to see Rosco dribblings. A world where you can 'ignore' mods for example. What a world that would be.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk is back on track after Southampton agreed to open negotiations with the Reds over a club-record transfer, according to South African lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp.

Following Liverpool’s win over Tranmere on Wednesday evening, Klopp said that he is ‘not nervous’ about the Reds’ transfer business, with some fans becoming increasingly worried that there has been no transfer movement since the arrival of Mohamed Salah in June.
His relaxed attitude may be because the Reds have stepped closer to signing Van Dijk, having previously released an apology statement which claimed to have ended all interest in the player.

There have been some suggestions that Van Dijk will hand in a transfer request to try and force a move through, but Vanderkamp goes as far as saying that he won’t need to, with a deal edging ever closer.

I don't know if he's handed in a request, just that the clubs are back negotiating. I don't think he will have to hand in a request either

Fan the flames...

Vanderkamp was involved in the Beneteke to Liverpool deal apparently.

This would never have happened if Southampton thought they had any chance of selling elsewhere for exceptionally silly money.

Screw the b******s into the fecking ground, I say.

Vanderkamp doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Saw him say that his quote was all over the news (journalism nowadays eh) and that the mate who passed on the info was gonna be pissed. That's why he's deleted his account probably.

We're probably writing a formal apology to him now, after causing the suspension of his Twitter account.

Well its a bit late now and i don't think it would take a genius to figure out where the leak came from. Someone's lawyer can't hold their piss

Our current vice captain, who was called by the City owner in an attempt to convince him to stay, yet still chose us whilst we were outside of the champions league, incredible considering their was zero chance of a player ever choosing us over City.

Completely different scenario as I'm sure you know.

Bruno Martins Indi

Age 25. One season of Premier League football under his belt. No major injury concerns. Europa League experience, Champions League knockout stage experience, World Cup experience in a team that finiahed 3rd. 34 caps for the Netherlands.

Stoke are paying £13.4m

Van Dijk
Age 26. One and a half Premiership seasons. Coming off a nasty foot injury that has kept him out of action since January. Group stage CL experience. Europa league experience. 12 international caps, played in the team thay failed to qualify for the Euros.

Price - 60-75m

I just don't see what justifies those relative prices

100% agree, the hype train for VVD is insane.

I'm sure we could have got him for less if we'd hardballed it. Still, if - as seems clear - Klopp really does want him that much, I'm glad he's being backed.
