I think we've made a real statement in this transfer saga, but at least we've saved ourselves 60m by looking like dopey cunts before buying him rather than after.

People blaming the leaks are missing the point - clearly Southampton had the proof that Klopp was in contact with Van Dijk. This is on him as much as anybody else.
 
The problem is that there are too many people involved, what happened to the days of a proper CEO doing the transfers that the manager wants...now we have scouts galore, a person doing transfers, a CEO who does, well I'm not sure, and heads of this and heads of that...way too many fingers in the pot
 
Mourinho's probably laughing at us now. He hands his CEO his list and he goes off on holiday and shut off from football.

Tom Werner, working in Hollywood, used to get all kinds of outrageous scandals hidden and all kinds of disasters averted. Christ, he even got Bill fecking Cosby off the hook. And he can't get this transfer sorted out? He's a bloody idiot.
 
Yes, but if I was Klopp I'd walk away from the club over this. It isn't going to happen. This was a key transfer and the club blew it horribly. It's not a minor setback. It's a shocking mess up. You just can't trust a club like this.

We've either definitely fucked up & tapped him up in an easily traceable manner (instead of the usual through agents/third parties/friends etc), or we are massively over-reacting.

Either way, it makes the club look like amateurs & potentially tells any other targets that were dickheads.

Worst start to the transfer window imaginable, and it hasn't even opened yet!
 
We've now got the most legal-savvy owners in our history and they're acting in a way that would David bloody Moores cringe.
 
So we have gone from spending 100m on our 2 main targets to back to being liverpool fc again. We do talk a good game though.
 
Fuck am I spending 12 years taking down a university? I should have just sued the club, they'd capitulate by the end of the day, and pay me millions.

What a joke, he was described as "World Class". Sits behind his fucking laptop. Anyone could do his job. He's an analyst. NOT a negotiator. And certainly not a Director.

The club seriously needs to rethink its attitude to the media. This was the kind of relaxed and rather smug chatter that in the old days never got reported until after the fact. Now it goes out there immediately. The Echo's outrage is hypocrytical - it was an eager participant in all this publicity. For a long period now I'd basically say shut up shop and review all media relationships.

I agree with Rosco that this is on Klopp as much as anyone else. Why did he meet with Van Dijk without going through the proper channels? What's the point? Having said that, surely other managers meet with players prior to their clubs making official bids and they all don't get grassed for tapping. So why are Southampton acting like holier than thou twats too?
 
A new low in the ever depressing saga of fsg transfer dealings. Really poor management at the very top with this one. dreadful start for Peter Moore., his first big test and he fails. Hope Kieta hasn't been tapped up.

They should also sack the guy who leaked the club has will have a big transfer kitty.
 
What is that Graeme Kelly chap like on twitter? Any good?

He has been really smug the past few weeks and is now seeing this potentially collapse around him.
