Jota off the bench on 60 min.

Starting Ox and Keita together makes me nervous. They've had some bad performances together in the past, however both look very sharp and fit this pre-season, so we may as well make the use of the £85M spent on them whilst we can. I'm not expert on what the new Norwich is like. I think Cantwell is still there, who has always looked a very good footballer, and one for Fabinho to keep an eye on. I believe they've just signed a new American striker this week as well.

I absolutely hate Norwich. I hate their kit. I hate Delia Smith. I hate Carrow Road. I hate the anti-scouser songs they sing each year. Battering Norwich when Suarez was here was a lovely thing. More of that please.

Just saying - the last away game Mini started he scored and we scored 7.

I wouldn’t mind him getting a start.

We won the Champions League with Djimi Traore starting... let's get him back in

Konate vs VVD is a tough one. Virg starting is a great statement, Konate has looked great though.

i think the fact Matip & Virg have played as a partnership shows they are first choice. Maybe Robbo being out might sway Klopp into having an experienced head there too.

Trent
Virj
Marip
Kostas

Fab
Thiago
Keita

Salah
Bobby
Mane

The midfield is the debate. I think pre season has shown keita and Elliott as 2 unexpected standout performers there. If thiago and hendo arent fit, then keita should start with Elliott.

This was my thinking as well. Virgil starting the last two games next to Matip and playing 71 mins on Sunday surely means he'll start against Norwich.
Harsh on Konate who has looked insanely good. But Klopp isnt a fan of starting the new arrivals at once if others are fit and available.

The midfield is a tougher one. Fabinho will start, and maybe Milner. Might be to soon for Thiago and Keita probably deserves a start after that pre season he has had.

Alisson

TAA Matip Virgil Stavros Flatley

Milner Fabinho Keita

Salah Jota Mane

Still have Marriner’s performance in the loss away to Soton in mind.
Big question is will Mane get a free kick when murdered by the right back.

Are there any mad new rules that I'll not understand until around April this year?

Like, you can't be offside while your keeper is pretending to be a dog pissing against his goalpost, stuff like that?

Unfortunate for him but I kinda doubt that he'd even be on the bench.
My guess?
If this is the starting line up:
Alisson, Trent, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Fabs, Thiago, Keita, Salah, Mane, Firmino

These would be the subs:
Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Hendo, Ox, Milner, Elliott, Minamino, Jota

Then there's Origi, Philips and Shaq.

Rumours are Millie is starting.

2. Liverpool

Last season - 3rd
It's getting tricky already given the spending at Chelsea and Manchester United, but Liverpool have the title in their sights again with their squad back to the sort of strength that won it for the first time in 30 years in 2019-20.
Central to it all is Virgil van Dijk, fit again after the serious knee injury that ruled him out from October last season.
Liverpool were decimated by injuries but managed to put together a late run to finish third. Van Dijk, however, is the game-changer.
The world-class defender adds so many layers to Jurgen Klopp's team, augmented too by the arrival of fellow centre-back Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. Liverpool's front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah remains as potent as ever, while Diogo Jota provides serious competition.
Klopp may yet do more business, but even now this is a title-challenging Liverpool squad.
