According to the Mirror he has been told to leave the club come January alongside Jovanovic and Babel to free cash and space for new players.

That's incredibly daft as Pacheco has certainly been coming of age of late.
I think the reason roy is willing to left patches go is there is too much competition ahead of him in the role of the second striker especially if roy brings in a target man.

what the hell is this:

"He featured in that unfortunate Northampton game and it's a fact of life that it was a great opportunity for those outside the first 13 or 14 to really show me, 'You should be thinking of me'.

So is he ok with most fans having no faith in im after all the unfortunate games he's presided over as manager?

You don't judge a player based on one bad game. Why the hell is he still playing Poulsen then?

If he sells him, I'll be pissed ... Especially for a bullshit reason like 'lower the wage bill'

Hodgson is a bell end. Way to shatter a youngster's confidence. He's said something equally terrible before, regards to Shelvey. He was getting rave reviews against Northampton and he just said something along the lines of, "Meh, they were getting tired anyway. That's why he looked good."

I'm not as convinced of Pacheco's ability as some on here, but I do believe he should be on the fringes of the first team and talk of him leaving saddens me.

Fuck Babel and Poulsen off instead. We know they're shit.

Given that Comolli is Director of Football now and Roy is essentially first team coach surely its not his call regarding the young fringe players, particularly as Hodgson is highly unlikey to have more than 6 months left in the job so giving him authority over the youth set up would be nuts

If Pacheco were to be made available in january what do we think would be his valuation? I know some on here think hes destined for big things but its not as if we have been fending off bids from europes top clubs to keep him so far

Linked with Malaga, Real Sociedad and Espanyol today. I wouldn't be surprised to see a swap plus cash offered for Griezmann at Sociedad.

The comment in full:

"He's had moments when he's looked good, others when not quite so," admitted Hodgson.

"He's working on his game. He featured in the unfortunate Northampton game.

"It was a great opportunity for those outside the first 13 or 14 to really show me, 'You should be thinking of me.

"When will he get his chance again? Probably in one of these games in Europe, who knows, may he will burst back onto the scene, but it is very difficult to do that in a reserve game."

Very sad but true.

Well it is true. But it is rare to find youngsters who dont have a lot of not so good moments. If the NESV are really interested in following the Arsenal model, they better find a manager who does not make such statements whenever a young talent has a not so good game. We will end up selling him for 250K or something stupidly low.

Why do people keep on with this shit?. We all know that Roy DOES give the youngsters their fair share of playing time. The evidence is clearly there that he does.

Because people make things up to fit their agenda.

You're all mental.

At least he's giving some of the younguns a chance!
It's not just me then?!! It beggars belief, 'giz a stick, any stick'.

What a pathetic state of affairs. If they're not dissecting EVERYthing the guy says they're spouting bollocks like half of what's posted here. No one knows what's gone on with Pacheco behind closed doors but saying he doesn't trust or isn't willing to play kids is just fucking rubbish.

you are roy hodgson and I claim my 5 pounds.

Mate, I can't help but jump to his defence when he's getting a kicking for anything and everything, and the 'LM' thread by froggy proves as much, half the people posting in that thread obviously didn't even bother reading the article, they just read the headline and jumped in, like Froggy said, as he'd played for and it worked.

I'm only messing, marky 😉

if we were to get decent money for him to aid the signing of someone who is going to actually figure in the first team i don't see why not.

Yup, this place is very boring at the minute.

We all want Hodgson gone, so I cannot understand why we have to make a bad situation worse by making the forum as dreary and predictable as our Liverpool fortunes.

Roy is a bit too much like Rafa but without the trophies.

Stubborn, continues playing players out of position, plays the same system and substitutes players much like Rafa.

It's horrible!

Mark, I for one, am not saying he isn't giving the kids a chance. It's just, play them in their natural positions.

And Wilson and Pacheco, two of our biggest talents, should have seen more game time. Ecclestone will never make it, Pacheco has a chance. The treatment he has got after that Carling cup game hasn't been good.

And the comments about that game are horrible.

Mark mate would you get off your high horse and read the posts. Nobody is saying he doesnt give the youngsters a chance. The evidence is clear that he does.

Some of us just feel that his treatment of Pacheco is very harsh. Surely he was worth a place in the squad at least once in the last 12 matches.

Dani Pacheco remains very much a part of the long-term plans at Liverpool, Roy Hodgson has revealed.

Espanyol and Malaga have been monitoring the 19-year-old's situation after failing to feature for the first team since Liverpool's Carling Cup exit at the hands of Northampton Town in late September, prompting reports that he could move away in the January transfer window.

Hodgson, however, has dismissed reports that Pacheco will be allowed to leave the club as he has a 'bright future' with the Reds but explained that he currently faces a battle with Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez all ahead of him in the pecking order.

He said: "He's been doing quite well. He had a little down period which I suppose coincided with the unfortunate Northampton game, when every one of the young players was thrown in together.

"He stuck at his task and in training he's been doing very well. In the last couple of reserve games he's played very well too.
It's nice to know he's still very much a part of the Liverpool future.

"He's unlucky in the position he plays, just behind the striker or in a wide role. That's probably where we have most competition at the club right now. For a young player it's not easy to knock the likes of Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez off their perch.

"Having said that, we still believe in him. We think he's a good player and he's got a very bright future.

"Of course there'll be lots of other clubs out there who want to take him but if he really wants to be at the top level he might be well advised to keep learning his trade with these sorts of people around him, rather than to become a bigger fish at a smaller club.

"I'm sure he'll be in the squad for the Europa League next week. I can't guarantee he will start but that's certainly not beyond the bounds of possibility because he has done well enough recently to force his way back to our attention."

Is this a new statement by Hodgson or is it the same one he made earlier about Pacheco that everyone was screaming at?

Its a newer one, but I think there's a difference of a couple of days. Probably from interview/questioning of different journos.

"Thursday is a great opportunity for people. You certainly could stake a real claim for a place in the first team if you play well," Hodgson told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Maybe the door is now opening up for people like Danny Wilson, Dani Pacheco, Nathan Eccleston - people who've done well in training and who work hard every day. They deserve their chance.

"Martin Kelly did well in his last couple of games he played and created a lot of headlines. A lot of people took notice of his performance. I'm hoping he can keep that going and I hope Danny can have that sort of success.

"I have faith in the young players and whatever happens on Thursday night I won't lose faith in them. But it's an opportunity for them to force their way into my attention even more.
"

Can't say any more than that or give them anymore encouragement regards their opportunity, now it's up to them to show what they can do. Come on lads!

This should shut the rumour mill up, at least for a while?

Liverpool have today confirmed youngsters Dani Pacheco and Martin Kelly have signed new contracts at Anfield.

Pacheco has signed a two-year extension taking his contract to 30 June 2014, while Kelly has signed a three-year extension, also taking his contract to 30 June 2014.

Liverpool snapped up Spanish prodigy Pacheco from Barcelona in the summer of 2007.

He made his first-team debut as a substitute against Fiorentina in December 2009 and has since added 12 more appearances to his tally.

The 19-year-old was top scorer at this summer's European U19 Championships, helping Spain to reach the final.

England U21 defender Martin Kelly came through the Academy before helping the reserves to win the league in 2007-08.

His senior debut then came as a substitute in a Champions League clash with PSV in December 2008.

The 20-year-old has 15 appearances to his name.

I'm still very underwhelmed by Pacheco, but I'm happy to keep him for a while yet.
