Quiffing pages 2-4 but to those saying he is a Carra replacement and back up - remind me where Carra has been playing the past few months? He has been our first choice centre back, so we need to replace him with a first choice centre back. Otherwise our defence will become a group of back up players rotating and generally being shit/ making mistakes.

Our first choice CB was Skrtel - that's who Papasnuffleoctopus is replacing.
Carragher came in cause Skrtel was failing miserably - so, Toure comes on board as the back up if the Greek doesn't work out.
If that makes sense.
I'm not following our transfer progress that closely at the moment so didn't realise we were also lining up a Skrtel replacement. My main concern was that we would start next season with Agger, Skrtel, Toure and Coates. If it is going to be Agger, New Guy 1, Toure (or back up 1) + Kelly/Wisdom/Coates whoever then I will be reasonably happy assuming this new guy is good.
If Skrtel has leprosy and Carra is retiring, that means Agger is our #1 CB. Which means we need to think about this seriously, it's bad news.
Right, so, the plan is we're loosing Sketel, Coates & Carragher.

Papadopolus - Greek CB - mid 20's, strong, dominant, will organise defence.
Some young Portuguese defender - 19, lightening pace, highly regarded Sporting Lisbon youth.
Toure - experienced defender.
It makes sense - if they're as good in reality as on paper.

I bet you that Greek player is shit. I mean, I'm generally against stereotypes but, he's Greek, I bet you he's shit.
None of them are a replacement for hyypia which is what we've needed since he retired. Toure is just shit and any wages even if it was a £1,000 a week is too much for that pile of dung. None of the defenders mentioned will stop our weaknesses from crosses and set pieces.
But for 15m? That's a bit steep considering our limited budget. I'm sure there must be other defenders we could get for half that price.
It's the main position we need to strengthen, and considering we'll be getting half of that money from Skrtel, it's money well spent in my book.

I think it's a good signing as I won't believe we are being too generous with regards to salaries anymore.
Proven CB with loads of routine and experience. Won the Premiership twice and is actually a very decent footballer too. Will thrive from a Rodgers style of play compared to Citehs. One could hope that he could find his Arsenal form again, who knows.
He'll be 3rd choice at best and as such we couldn't ask for much better really.

It's nit picky but the "every" part of that makes it sound like he's played for loads.
I know that winning it at two clubs is an achievement but perhaps just for the pedants like me the word "both" would be better served in that sentence.
