Lol!

Everyone moaned about being linked with Distin and he was better than any of our CBs this year.

That said, no thanks.

Is he any good in the air?

If so no problem getting him for a year but the issue is I doubt he will want to be anything bar 1st choice.

Really? I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to opinions on non LFC players. Having said that - He played for the Gooners and Citeh so he can hardly be shite though right??.

Peter Crouch made him his bitch at Anfield.

That should be enough to give us the fear.

If he's on a low-ish wage (40k or so) given that Kelly is on 35k a week that seems fairly reasonable

LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has dropped a big hint that he wants to bring Kolo Toure to Anfield, saying the club are on the lookout for winners.

Toure's contract at Manchester City runs out next month and reports suggested Rodgers was interested in snapping him up.

Rodgers didn't mention the centre-half's name but suggested players in the Toure mould were exactly what the club were after.

He said: "In order to breed the consistency needed to give us success, we need to bring in winners - those with the winning mentality."

And Toure is exactly that.

He was twice won the Premier League with Arsenal and Manchester City, while he has lifted the FA Cup three times.

The Ivory Coast international has also served as captain of the Gunners and City, leadership qualities that Rodgers is looking for.

He told the official Liverpool website: "Everyone has to play a part in leadership.

"You get different types of leadership - some are purely by action and inspiration, others by organisation and more verbal.

"Taking on that responsibility is something that has to come from within the group here, but we're also looking to bring in that type of player.

"It's our job as a club to look to bring in the types of players who will allow us to kick on again.

1+1=2 ?

Well Brendan wasn't a winner and FSG still picked him. I see what he means about the mentality but it won't help much bringing in that clapped-out gutbucket, even if he does have a couple of old winner's medals in his pocket.

That is such a bullshit article. Maybe its about Barry. Or Hargreaves. Or Benayoun.
Or maybe its about no one and is just a manager talking about how he wishes to improve the mentality of the squad.

Ps-Can motherfuckers stop RATIONALISING signing this useless fucking bag of skin and blood. Hes wank, doesnt matter if he is free or 10m doesnt matter if we pay him 100k or 15k, he is shit.

Are there any decent 30ish centre backs knocking around, I seriously can't think of many (I'm not advocating Toure btw).

Presuming Skrtel leaves and the greek signs.
That leaves.
Agger
Greek
Wisdom
Kelly
Coates

I think Brendan will surely go for an experienced defender and I don't blame him.

WHY!!!? He wont fucking play but for carling cups.
Dont buy into all this shit Leo. We dont need some fucking okiy doke former league winning nobody filling up the wage bill to bring a bit of 'experience'

I wasn't endorsing signing Toure but an experienced defender couldn't hurt.
For arguments sake if Agger and Kelly get long term injuries which could easily happen.
That leaves the Greek and 2 center halves whom have fuck all experience.
We all thought Carragher would only be playing in the cup barring injuries so who knows what can happen over the course of the season.

We might as well get Scott Dann - he's younger and would sign any kind of contract to join LFC. Not that I'm a fan of his but christ anything's better than this lardarse.

toure is just plain shit. he was shit when he was at his peak at arsenal and i was shocked city bought him. He continued to be shit and got worse as he lost his pace(which saved him many times). He's never been that good at reading the game and isn't a leader at the back. I'd rather just keep skrtel than use that piece of turd next to agger. I dont care what his wages would be he'd never be a bargain and just a hindrance.

Just read that Abidal is considering the offer of an ambassadorial role or leaving Barca to continue playing. Can cover for LB and CB and is many times more a winner than Toure! 😛

Signing an old head is probably still a good idea, this Papawhatever guy allegedly has a ropey knee, Agger barring this season has been made of glass as is Kelly and Coates needs to get games somewhere. If we sell Skrtel we're left with Wisdom and some guys I wouldn't bank on being available an entire season. It probably shouldn't be Toure but imo the idea isn't wrong.

There probably arent that many older CBs around that would be happy to be a back up, but we certainly can do better than Toure.
That said its foolish to think signing another 20 year old will solve it. We need some experience and leadership aswell.

Even if its mostly for the Carling cup, match preperation and daily training. But a couple of injuries and Wisdom/Kelly are our starting CBs, then we're not gonna win many games.
