Up to last week Rodgers was the second longest serving manager in the league so I don't get where this short termism criticism comes from. He had three and a half years to get things sorted at the back and has come up short - no disgrace but he was given plenty of time and backing from the directors and really cannot have any complaints

It would seem that we are competing with the likes of Bayern for a manager, that for me demonstrates how much of an upgrade this potentially could be, even if it does all end in tears. So yeah yabbadabbadoo great - more rebuilding, but at least a proven builder to do it this time.

It'll be nice to have a manager without looking at him and thinking why the fuck isn't Rafa still here.
Fishing for a like, are we?
But you're absolutely right.

I like the fact that we're rebooting. Every player gets a clean slate.

Keeping Rodgers when Klopp was available has made little sense. It reminds me of when Rafa was hired and that can only be a good thing. A young(ish) manager who has upset the odds in his own league to win titles and in this case, the Champions League. It's a considerable upgrade and he does feel like the right fit. You couldn't write up a better candidate for the Liverpool job on paper and I feel very fortunate that we're being able to land him.

We shouldn't underestimate the job at the hand, though. The manager and the board have to agree on an effective process of signing very good footballers. That's the priority. In fact it's a bigger one that the manager himself. The manager also will be coming into a new league, mid-season into a side who have been playing aimless football for a long period of time. I hope he can go back to basics, find a settled system, define the roles of the players and instill some motivation and fight into the players. That should lead to an improvement in performances and results. We might have an outside chance of Champions League qualification this year if he can quickly find a set up which clicks, but it's easier said than done and that's why I'll remain hopeful rather than expectant. Good luck to him.

Am i happy that we are in this situation again? No.

I would have liked for it to have worked out for Rafa, Kenny or Rodgers and for fleeting moments and in Rafa's case three very long seasons it appeared like it was going to work out.

Im fucking gutted...

I'm happy we've got a proper coach that's good enough to be wanted by zillions of other fans of the big clubs, but on a side note... I haven't read any sports journalism for ages, it does nothing for me anymore, but this last couple of days I've been clicking links to see what the world thinks of Klopp... and I can't deal with how terrible it all is.

This Anfield Wrap gang, everyone writing for the papers, there's just so many of them and they're all wankers. So self important. Grandiose language. Awful attempts at metaphor. Forcing points to try and seem erudite. It's just fucking horrible.

Yer wha ? Have you heard yerself fella ? Did you mean using big words, talking shite and being a nob to come across all smart arse like ?

Like Kenny, Rafa and Houllier before him you kinda knew time was up.

Im still a bit sad, not because we changed but because we had to.

Klopp seems bonkers so Im happy with this.

My rapid slide towards apathy has certainly been halted - at least temporarily. Change needed to be made - more change to come.

Rodgers should have gone at the end of last season. The season before earned him the chance till the end of last season and some of the stick dished out was completely unwarranted. Truth be told - the performances were pretty poor in general last year and the transfer strategy was all over the place. There was a little purple patch were we went on a bit of a run that gave some hope he'd turn it around but if you think rationally those performances again were weak and carried a fair amount of luck with them. The Villa semi did it for me though - that's when I knew he was lost - because he looked it. He'd was like a rabbit in the lights, clueless, panicked. So yeah, he should have gone at the end of the season. The poor performances have continued and now he's moved albeit a little late however that may have been due to Klopps availability, we don't know. Still thank him for that 2013-14 season though. We played some superb footy and I'm not having it for a minute it was all down to Suarez, absolute bollocks.

He's gone now and I've no ill feelings toward the man. It's sad to see any LFC manager go because it generally means we failed again. Fuck all the gloating and celebrating and shite though

You eventually got a like from me for this post, but the bold sentence almost made me hesitate.
I do believe that Suarez was the main factor in *that* season. He was just playing some amazing football, and even more important - his enthusiasm and fighting spirit carried the whole team with him.

Other than this - agree with every word you wrote.

We were top of the league before Suarez came back from his suspension.
Suarez wasn't the main factor but a massive help.
If his enthusiasm and amazing football were the reasons we'd have challenged for the title every season with Suarez.
It's just mainly lazy media fuelled horseshit.

And once again Sturridge was mainly ignored in that season.
He was sensational but rarely gets recognised.
His goals in 1-0 victories were far more important than scoring hat tricks against Norwich and the like.

Thanks Jimmy. Don't know what I'd have done without an additional like. It may just have ended it all for me.

Yup. I wonder if we look at "game changing goals and assists", Sturridge contribution might come close to Suarez.

Uh huh! 🙂

Rodgers lost the team it seemed ... So I'm happy we'll have a manager who players will have to impress to be a part of his long term plans.

I will say I'm only sad because I really thought Rodgers was going to do something with this club ... I thought he had something about him that just gave me hope. So in that sense, I'm disappointed it didn't work out but that is now the past ... and Klopp (it seems) is our present and hopefully future, so the same hopes I had for Rodgers now transfer to him ... Here's hoping we all get to experience a fucking premier league title before we hit 40 (sorry Judge etc, but most of us are still under 40!).

Pretty much this.

Yes. I'm happy. You can never guarantee success but you'd have to say we stand a better chance under Klopp. How FSG support him is another contributing factor.

I just think his passion for the game will galvanise and unify the supporters.

I think that needs a poll. You may be surprised !

I thought Ancelotti would be a better bet and has a much better CV. However, the prospect of Klopp is more exciting for some reason. Maybe because he doesn't represent just a 'safe pair of hands' that Ancelotti would and seems to have more of an edge.

I feel rejuvenated and can't wait to see us play, which feels great given the effect Rodgers was having.

Yeah, this about sums my views up too.

The atmosphere reflects that too! At Anfield you'd think it was 71 most match days.

Reading a book about it now called And The Lying Rag Shines Now - How Hillsborough and the Premier League Changed Britain. Very good so far. Difficult reading the first bit about the crush, the dude who wrote it had a very similar time to me, but how he goes on to describe the fallout is very good so far... back to it then.
