Omar Marmoush

Don’t see why he would be an “awful” signing. His goal-scoring is not the only facet of his game that’s exceptional.

I was misled by the fact that the tweet said striker... after I posted that I watched a compilation vid and he appears to be more of a Mahrez type player. Though, at least from the clips I saw, his best work all seemed to be from the LW... so checks out that we'd be interested.

As for awful signing "on paper" it was based on the fact that he's 26 next year on the back of a breakout season so we will be paying a massive premium.

But as is evident from this thread, I know nothing about him so my opinions are weakly held and mean very little.

Do basically we're replacing an Egyptian with an Egyptian...makes sense

I think he’s the closest one to Jota in our current squad – kind of a #9.5 player, versatile enough to play anywhere in the front line, but his best attributes are goal-scoring, dribbling to create his own shot and pressing and that lends itself better to the middle. Could he replace Jota rather than Nunez?

I have no idea about this guy.

If we are near the top of the table, given we didn't spend anything in the summer window, they should look at bringing in a player with reputation and respect - that will add energy to the squad in the 2nd half of the season.

Yes - if we get another few wins and are either top or in touch distance I think we should be investing as it would be an excellent chance of making a proper title challenge with others faltering around us too.

Slot squad.

I just don't like buying form players. I very much doubt we've done due diligence on scouting him. French league is fucking shite as well

Yeah, as said previously its his age and potential fee that are the sticking points.

But if our interest is serious we have to take a closer look. The interesting thing is that he has played mainly as a striker/centre forward the last 3 seasons which has seen his goalscoring numbers explode. Before that he was predominantly a LW.
His numbers as a forward are pretty impressive. But his work of the ball, dribling skills and actually hold up play/link up play are very good.
Pacey and hard working.

The big question will be the fee imho.

What does Salah want, and why can't we give it? I am okay with giving Salah 2-3 years extension on the same salary, and buy Omar. This does mean another attacker would need to be sold, and thats between Jota and Diaz.

*won't give it. Because we're dickheads. Get Salah off his 20m salary, sign someone for 30m and stick him on Diaz wages and that's us sorted for the next 5 years is what the shower of cunts above Arne are thinking. They don't want to pay him 40m for the next 2 years then have to look for a replacement anyway.

Ideally next summer we cash in on both Jota and Diaz, after that you enter territory where we'll lose them for nothing too and the investment we want to make to the squad is further hampered.

Am pretty sure that since we let both Matip, and Thiago go we can spread the wages of both Thiago to both or all three of our contract boys. VVD, and Salah have 2 years max left in them. So lets get this Omar fella, who can cover Mo, and we need an extra midfielder, and a LCB. Thats it job done.

I don't think we will know any more until Jan about contract situations. I don't expect there to be more than 1 addition if that in Jan. The reality is we are a self-sufficient club but for some reason we don't like to sell first team players but rather let their contract wind down which means we have to have to go a window without signing players. Come summer I expect the club to spend about £100m and possible more if we sell Alisson and Irish Kev
