Torres.. I would of consider turning the other way during his time with us... 😉 Not really been a player since that time that has made me come out with such an expression... He had an incredible knack of creating something out of nothing, such was they way played under Benitez..

Despite his brilliance, not even Suarez got the 'Man Love' expressions I had for Torres....

The way he left the club left me broken.. cunt...

So who did it for you ?

I still feel utterly betrayed by Torres.
The way he moved, the suddeness of it, where he went.
It was a watershed moment. At the risk of sounding over-dramatic it was the final straw in many ways. I have no real feeling for any of our players anymore. Wasn't bothered when Suarez left. Won't bother me when Sterling/Coutinho or any of them leave. Torres made me finally accept the fact that players don't give a shit about the fans or the clubs they play for once they decide to fuck off.
Conversely, I was genuinely please for him when he scored twice for Atletico the other day against Real.
I don't even begin to understand my own brain.

If Flanno became boss and left I'd be gutted. Scouse players leaving is the only thing I'm arsed about in that sense

Torres felt like betrayal. Suarez was always just a fling.

Mascherano's transfer left a sour taste too when he refused to play. He was dead to me after that.

Every technical or finesse player we've had.

Barnes, McManaman, Garcia (though frustrating), Suarez and now Lallana...I mean Coutinho.

Nobody should have been surprised after Michael Owen, TBH.

At least Torres pocketed us £50 million. That horrible little cunt made himself next to worthless.

Fowler all day long.

He was to me what Torres was to so many.

I grew up completely infatuated with him being a left footed player.

Every single time I played football as a kid I was Fowler or anytime I dreamed and getting to play for Liverpool he was always my strike partner.

It ruined football for me for a good 12 months.

I think I almost cried when he banged in that hat trick for Leeds.

Watched a video on youtube the other day of every goal Torres scored for us.

What a bloody player he was, incredible ... fast forward a few years and its insane just how far he has dropped.

Me too. Maybe it's because he's back home. No longer a mercenary. Maybe he's suffered enough. Maybe it's heartwarming to see a payer do well back at his hometown club.

RedNinja - the poster who gives me wood every minute of every day. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Torres, after the way he left, was done with single man love for any single player.
He had it all songs and banners. The best chant I have ever heard for any player ever, I think that's probably the most annoying thing about it.

Has it ever been any different?

If we aren't winning trophies or paying top wages, players have always left.

The galling thing about the Torres transfer at the time (for me) was that he was moving to a rival club. Would there have been as much hatred for had he left for barca, I doubt it.

Have, for fucks sake. Would have!

Xabi Alonso - the thinking man's footballer.

Every single time. I wish we sold Gerrard instead of him although I'd have never admitted it at the time.

I am with you, I remember posting something simlilar a while back..

I got slammed on here for it... big time

Fowler was a walk out the pub stare at text message, stare at other reds mouth open as we tried to comprehend moment.
Horrible.

I was only like 9 at the time Fowler left but I realised at that exact moment I loved Fowler far more than Houillier and pretty much judged him forever for freezing him out and selling him

Owen was the biggest for me at the time. I was on holidays in Spain and went to an internet café to catch up on news. I was floored to read he was actually gone.

Torres was a hammer blow to me as it was so sudden. Maybe not behind the scenes but we weren't privy to the internal affairs of the club and I was shocked to see him go.

Xabi was tough to take. He had developed into my favourite player.

I was prepared for Suarez leaving so I was able to make peace with it.

Sami.
Loved him as a player from day one.
We won everything bar the league when he was here and an absolute gent to boot.
He got a terrific send off though.
I was at that game and every one of the Spurs squad and coaching staff were genuine in wishing him well.
He was a one off in terms of the respect.
