I don't think anyone doubts his quality (even if some are over the top about it), but we all know what the problem is.

Let's wait and see shall we...

"My philosophy of how I want to play fits in with how the team is playing at the moment," Agger told reporters. "That's the way we all want to play.

"We have some quality passers in the team and we're playing it on the ground - that's what people like to see.

"Results are the most important thing but if you can play like that it's a bonus.

"You play good football. Things are going the right way and everyone is enjoying themselves."

Agger believes the signings of several attacking players since Dalglish's return has significantly helped the side, who dominated proceedings in their 3-1 win over Bolton on Saturday.

"For a team like Liverpool who want to go forward all the time, it's been so good this year that so many quality players have come in," Agger added.

"To make the team stronger we need players like that. It's been really good and it's a joy to go into Melwood every day to train.

"The way we have started the season is a combination of a lot of things - a strong squad, a good manager and good coaches.

"But there are still a lot of things we can do better. To move forward we need to be consistent.

"We've only played three games so it's a bit early to say what we might do."

----------------

It's quite evident that Dalglish rates Agger and I also believe that he sees a new Alan Hansen in him.
Agger has been our best defender so far this season and long may it continue.
(He'll probably come back injured from the national team).

He is indeed doing very well. If he can keep hia concentration, and someone could teach him how to head it he'd probably be top bracket (injuries permitting).

Heading?

COATEZZZZ

His heading abilty doesn't detract from just how good he can be although his injuries did. A source of frustration for all.

A run of games and consistency will do the lad a world of good. He looks solid and stylish under Kenny and I for one am loving it. Long may it continue.

His heading most certainly does detract from how good he can be. It's still an important part of a CB's skill set and Agger is lacking in it. The likes of Hansen and Lawrenson could get away with not being great in the air but Agger's not in their class, not by some distance. It's definitely something we'll need to keep an eye on.

"I thought Daniel Agger summed up the mood nicely in his post-match comments when he said he was enjoying playing in a side which plays good football," added the former Reds striker.

"Kenny has got them playing by the old 'pass and move' rules, and has taken them back to the old style of training, and the benefits are there for all to see.

"Liverpool play the ball on the ground, they play with movement, with energy and with width. It is no surprise that Agger, a ball-playing defender who likes to bring the ball out and start attacks, is in his element at the moment."

I've always been a big fan of Agger (although khl had me wavering at times!) and am glad to see him back in the side doing well. Here's hoping he stays fit and doesn't have his usual spell of 4 months on the sidelines.

If we can keep him fit it makes our CB worries less pressing as we have at least one half of a partnership sorted for the next few years.

Agger: I feel good
From the official: 13th Sep 2011

Daniel Agger believes his commanding start to 2011-12 is a result of getting a full pre-season schedule under his belt - though he's convinced he has yet to hit peak form.

The Dane has started all four of Liverpool's Barclays Premier League matches so far this campaign having worked tirelessly over the summer to regain full fitness following a knee injury that ruled him out of the tail end of last term.

So imperious has been Agger, compatriot and Anfield legend Jan Molby last week hailed the No.5 as being in the 'form of his life'.

The man himself, however, feels there is more to come.

Agger told Liverpoolfc.tv: "The fact I got the full pre-season has helped me a lot. I feel a lot stronger, a lot better, but I still have more to come, hopefully.

"I feel I can give some more, have more to offer, so hopefully I can carry on playing games and that will help me.

"Fitness-wise I am happy right now, but as the season carries on you get more games under your belt and you get stronger, quicker and better."

On Molby's glowing praise, the centre-back added: "It's difficult to compare to other years or games. It's so difficult for me to say something like that.

"But I feel really good now, I feel comfortable but as I said, I feel I have more to give and so that's what I'm working at."

Despite having starting each of Liverpool's league matches this season, Agger knows he faces stern competition for his place in Kenny Dalglish's line up, particularly after Sebastian Coates was drafted in to bolster the defensive ranks on the eve of the transfer deadline.

However, the 26-year-old welcomes the increased challenge for a first-team berth and believes it can only be of benefit to the Reds in their quest for honours.

"I haven't seen too much of him yet, but he's a big, strong guy and I hope he will be well suited to the Premier League," said Agger.

"I have been here almost six years now and every year there are new players coming in and players going.

"It is normal for a big club like Liverpool to bring in players to add to the competition. Everything changes every year, so it's good to have healthy competition as we have now. It's good for the club and the players."

Meanwhile, Agger acknowledged his disappointment at Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Stoke City - but stressed the importance of the squad putting the result behind them as they begin to gear up for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

He said: "It was disappointing, of course, because we wanted to get more out of it, but it was just one of those days and we just have to carry on, work hard and aim for the next game.

"But no matter how you've played, you're always down if you lose. I will always be down no matter how we lose. The rest of the lads were as well because it was so disappointing.

"We don't want to lose games like that. We need the points and we need to get as many points as we can. It was a game we could have taken all of them.

"You have to give Stoke credit. They got what they wanted and played how they wanted, like they normally do, so I think we have to give all the credit to them because they got the result and we didn't."

LONG MAY HIS GOOD FORM CONTINUE!

uh-oh :-X

Daniel Agger admits the belief within the Liverpool squad is "miles apart" from what it was this time last season.

The Denmark international believes under Kenny Dalglish the team are brimming with confidence and they are a different group than the one under Roy Hodgson last season.

Agger was one of the more unhappy players under Hodgson's disappointing six-month tenure at the club and was forced to play out of position at left-back on more than one occasion

Hodgson was replaced by Dalglish last January and Agger admits the club have undergone a transformation under the Reds legend.

Miles apart

"I think it's a bit of everything but obviously the coaching staff are helping," Agger told the club's official website.

"If you look at the squad now, it looks really, really strong with so many good players so I think it is good for us to have the belief to go forward and win games.

"We definitely have that now and if you compare it to last season, I think we're miles apart."

Didn't manage to catch the game today but how serious was his injury? So all the talk about Agger + 1 in central defence is void?

Thankyou, Gary, for that helpful, erm, whatever that was.

Don't know yet, Binny.

If *you* don't know, we're fucked !

Don't know but I'd be surprised if he plays norr than 15 games this season.

Get rid for fucks sake!

what annoyed me was not the fact he got injured, but the fact he was gash before that!

His fault for the first goal today

I understand the frustration, considering his past injuries. This time around he was just unlucky.

A good central defense needs stability to develop and flourish. You can't plan and build a partnership with this sicknote. Move him on.
