Agger appreciation thread

To be fair I do like him a lot and he's had a generally good start to the season. He's just a waste of time though.

And all the Agger brigade will now be slating Skrtel for every mistake he makes no doubt, whereas Agger seems immune from it.

So to clarify, he fell over for no reason, cost us a goal, and got himself injured.

Way to go Dagger.

Yes, Super Daniel Agger who never fucks up, because he's just so damn elegant.

Well, you, yourself, referred to Skrtel in rather unsavoury terms, on Sunday, so there is some truth in what you say.

Agger broke 2 of his own ribs to avoid the humilation the team would suffer

He can walk away with his head held high and say "We conceded none while i was fit"

you must admit that hack from skrtel, while bale's back was to goal, with skrtel already on a yellow was beyond idiocy.

as for agger can't be relied upon, if coates and carra (if coates is prefered to skrtel) form a good partnership then agger shouldn't get back in even when he is fit again.

Indeed, but I am (hopefully) unbiased in my opinion though. if someone's good I'll say they're good. If someone's shit I'll say they're shit. I've never got this one vs. the other type agenda some people seem to have. I don't really have any favourite players at the moment, I'd rather we just won.

I'm the same, for the first time since supporting liverpool I don't have a favorite player.

Yes, you have a basic contempt for just about all our players, so you are at least even-handed.

From Liverpoolfc.tv:

Kenny Dalglish today confirmed Daniel Agger has resumed training following injury.

The Denmark centre-back sustained a fractured rib in the defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on September 18, but trained alongside his teammates at Melwood on Thursday ahead of the weekend clash with Everton.

Dalglish also revealed Glen Johnson is edging closer to a first-team return after a hamstring problem.

The boss told his pre-match press conference: "Daniel Agger is back training today and Glen Johnson is on his way as well.

"Everybody else has trained fully."

Meanwhile, journalists asked Dalglish whether the fact Saturday's game is a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park made it more tempting to hand Steven Gerrard a first start of the 2011-12 season.

He replied: "No. The game is not the important thing - Steven Gerrard is more important. As we've said before, we'll manage Steven as well as we possibly can."

Not that it matters though.

Daniel Agger targets extended run in Liverpool side after making 100th Premier League appearance against West Brom
The Denmark international is hoping he can go on to make another 100 appearances for the club after injuries have hampered his five-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield

"It's special to play 100 league games for Liverpool and it has been a long time coming because of the unlucky injuries I have had," Agger told the club's official website.

"Hopefully now I can have an injury free run and I hope now to keep on going and play another 100 games for this club.

"I am enjoying my football now. I feel I have been unlucky with injuries and hopefully I can get some good luck now because it means a lot to me to play for this club."

Agger also revealed his delight at keeping a clean sheet against West Brom at The Hawthorns, adding: "It was so important for us to keep a clean sheet and that is always good for us defenders and great for the whole team as well.

"I thought we played well and deserved the three points. We are happy and we have to continue this form and keep winning games.

"I think we can take a lot from this result and we now look ahead to the next game against Swansea at home and try and get another three points."

Fingers crossed!

Cue injury. Seriously, I'd be happy to put some serious money on Agger being out injured again before Christmas.

when our players come out with soundbytes usually the exact opposite happens.

'I'm feeling fitter than ever'
- injury happens

'he's in the best form of his life'
- player in question has a slump in form

etc

we should really do the ultimate double bluff and say how shit we are, how unfit we are, can't hit the broad side of a barn and have absolutely no chance of finishing top 4...

Yeah, but they will not do it as well as SCM.

"Daniel's a fantastic player but it wasn't just down to Daniel that we've had two clean sheets," he told the club's official website.

"He's a fantastic player and he's probably as good as anyone else in his position in the Premier League.

"He's comfortable in possession and he's a very good defender as well.

"He's a top defender, a top player. He played left-back for us at Stoke as well and did very well.

"It's great to have him back and I hope his fitness remains as it is for a long time."

Yeah 3 weeks is about a season in Agger years.

I like him and think that Skrtel plays better when he is alongside a left footer.

DefendingStats.jpg

This season, Liverpool has had 3 clean sheets when he has been on the pitch. That is, 3 clean sheets in 7 starts which account to a clean sheet every 2.33 games. The only other defenders with a record better than this are Vermaelen and Vidic.
