The Donkey

He needs to go at the end of the season. We were under the cosh, we brought him on and he did next to nothing.

It's not even just yesterday. He comes on and most of the time he doesn't seem like he knows how to play with the team.

How about considering staying up for a while? Maybe three games? two?
Is that too much to ask?

I can't wait until this guy leaves.

For me, it's a mini miracle if we win the league with this guy up top for us. I can't wait till we get a number 9 we can be proud of again.

Arsenal fans complain about Havertz, but at least he has an all round game, game intelligence and excellent work rate.

This somehow got stuck in my head.

The signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica for an initial fee of £64million in June 2022 was largely driven by Klopp after the Uruguayan’s impressive performances against Liverpool in the Champions League.

As Klopp’s power and influence increased, did the club move away from their data-led model?

“Nunez played brilliantly against Liverpool and that has an effect on people,” Graham says. “It didn’t do him any harm in becoming a Liverpool player.

“The difficulty with Nunez was that he was a very different type of player to Firmino. My questions were: ‘Are we going to change our style or formation for him?’ Is he a good enough player that it might be worth making those changes?’. It was something we had resisted for many years.

“We went through the same data process for Nunez as with other players. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew what a big change it would be with Nunez. It was more, ‘Are we sure we’re going to make the best use of him?’.

“I talk in the book about classifying players to understand what their role is. It’s different to whether they are any good or not. We always had a list of ‘great players but not for Liverpool’. Defensive full-backs, target men, crossing wingers — we just didn’t play in that style. It was clear that Nunez was a No 9.

“I wouldn’t say that the data said no to Nunez. It’s more ‘if we sign this player we have to understand this is the role we’ve seen him be effective in and is there currently a slot for him in our squad?’. And if you’re spending a large amount of money on a player then he has to start. The worst thing you can do is buy a squad player and spend money that could be out there on the pitch.”

I've always said this from day 1....Darwin's biggest weakness is himself. He has the talent, no doubt, but doesnt have the mental fortitude to be a top player.

He has to learn to drown out all the voices, screw what others think of him, and work very hard on the training ground.

I bet he spends hours scrolling through social media trying tot see what the world thinks of him, when he could've used that time to work on his game instead.

Nunez, if you somehow found your way to 6CM, and you're reading this now - SWITCH OFF EVERYTHING ! UNINSTALL all !!!

You knew from day one Fowler, Owen, Torres and Suarez had that deep down self belief. They also worked hard to get better. Well up to a point with one of them.

Now we have our most expensive player ever laughing and joking with the opposition keeper then playing all fucking sad. Fuck off.

I miss Suarez big time.

He is..still by far my favourite LFC player ever, next to Stevie G.

What a nutter he was.

They don't make them like they used to anymore. The game's gone. All full of pansies now. Am i allowed to even say that ?

Personally I don't think it's a self belief issue with him, but more of a lack of game intelligence and skill. As Fowler said, he just doesn't think.

I'm quite sure he believes that smashing it is the best option and that's why he balloons so many chances instead of getting them on target.
When he does meet them on target, they're usually straight at the keeper.

Last night's one was typical of him, he got to the ball well ahead of the defender and just required a simple, good connection on the ball to get it into an open net. Defender would not have been able to get to it. Yet our guy decides to leather it and it ended up closer to the roof of the stand than the roof of the net.

I hate that he's wearing the LFC #9 shirt.
I hate that he wears any #9 shirt...he's a disgrace to the number and what it means.

You're forgetting the racist, bitey, I want to move to Arsenal part.

The wata thing is condescending as fuck.

He's an incredible professional, model attitude, tremendous character who is so fundamentally limited that I'd rather watch Ryan Gravenberch circle the drain until his hamstring explodes. What a pro.
Yea that is a piss take. He’s ready and barely used.

Ok, we've all got to say it now. He's not good enough.

But how about for the rest of the season till he leaves we give him a pass by having NO expectations of the lad and we just encourage encourage encourage.

I think we've all been doing that the entire season and are just fed up now...I know I am

Despite how shit Chiesa was against Plymouth, I'd rather him come on than Nunez, who I don't mind never seeing in a Liverpool kit ever again

Should give him a run as a centre back - wins all the headers on defensive corners 😀

Darwin, VVD & Konate - 3 man mountains.

Things is - we need him to pull one or two performances out his arse before the end of the season or we’ll win fuck all.

I don’t care if it’s a few 5 minute sub appearances where he runs about like a headless chicken until one balloons in off his arse - but we need him to do something other than wallow is self pity or his shitness.

Last night, I was lying in bed trying to think of any footballer, past or present, who compares to Nunez, and I came up empty.

So instead, I started mixing up a cocktail: a splash of Djibril Cisses finishing, a dash of N’Gog’s build, a hefty pour of Heskey’s first touch, and Origis knack for last minute winners, all topped off with David Seaman’s haircut and Joey Barton’s intelligence… plus a generous shot of his talent for getting sent off. A drink strong enough to make any customer sink their fist into a wall, served in a dainty, fragile glass that cracks under pressure.

And then I was fell asleep satisfied it's possible to sum up Darwin fucking Nunez.
