Endo

I think the outcry to Slot not utilising him enough this season shows just how much respect he built from the fans last season too. Can't not love this guy - he is work rate plus leadership plus execution. He does the things he is there to do very well, and relentlessly.

I think we are seeing that appreciation of his role now and this is also why there is surely zero chance he leaves. What a guy to have in the squad - never injured, gives 100%, makes life an absolute nightmare for opponents and can play a very different yet important role in helping us change the nature of games.

It's not that deep.

Endo, like St Origi before him, is the Patron Saint of the unloved, the unbeautiful, the unskilled, and the physically unimposing.

Everything he has in life, was earned through pure grit. Just like your high school coach told you was possible (before sniggering to your better endowed mates).

To date, he is the only known player to have been written off by Arne Slot and come back stronger.

It's the definition of a cult hero

See this is the sort of hilariously patronizing shit id hate if I were Endo. Unskilled? He captains an international football team and has had a long and successful career. Here he gets head pats.

By the way, it's interesting how after we are done rigbteously felating our first 11, that man number 12 Curtis Jones seems entirely overlooked, despite playing a far more significant role, and being a scouser. He's both too relevant and not relevant enough to get the hipster treatment.
I don't really think Curtis is overlooked because I think quite a few of us here are likely to think in terms of the first team consisting of 14-15 players not just a first XI..

First time I've ever heard of Origi being called 'physically unimposing'!

That was kind of my point. Curtis is in that first team group for me but receives very little praise. He exists in some vast liminal space between condescending cult hero and our midfield is full of legends first three (when we are winning).

He's contributed massively this season. He's a scouser. What gives? And don't tell me some people don't rate him on here, they don't.
