That last part is so true. I find myself constantly caught in deliberations over whether we beat the Chavs or City by the odd goal or whether we'll run riot.
I'd love to see us smash them both - particularly Chelsea. I can see the odd goal settling it in our favour - and strangely scoring more against City than Jose's money grabbers.
Then I wonder if 4 points might be enough. By the time it's all done the day is finished - time to prepare for tomorrow.....and another day at the grindstone. 🙂

My earliest memories of Liverpool is the title win in 89/90. I was too young to understand football, wasn't that interested back then, but I remember the players and some of the goals.
I grew up watching the "Spice boys" generation, that's the first team I clearly remember and followed. The likes of James, Wright, Matteo, Kvarme, Bjornebye, Harkness, Redknapp, McManaman, Barnes, Thomas, Fowler, Rush, McAteer, Jones etc.
That's when I actually started reading about the team, collecting "Goal" posters and so on, during the mid 90s I think.
It was a terrible time to be a Liverpool supporter imo. Man U dominating the league, a brother that couldn't wait to rub it in, us constantly failing, loosing the FA cup final, Kvarme, James's howlers, McManaman leaving etc.
There were some highs of course, like having the best striker partnership in the premier league (Collymore and Fowler), the Newcastle games, beating Man U a few times but not much more.
We were just a bunch of bottlers, but I still had faith in the team. We played some great football but we just weren't consistent enough.
I did what I could to follow the games, TV, teletext, highlights and the newspapers. Not every game was broadcast on TV, like it is today and I couldn't listen to the games on the radio like you could in England.
We needed a change, and then the Houllier era began. We finally started winning trophies again. We became more consistent, more solid and more disciplined but at a cost. We were probably one of the most boring teams to watch during those days and 3-4 years later we were back to being average, unfortunately.
Then came Benitez and shocked us all. In one season we became the kings of Europe and it seemed like he was the one who was gonna bring the title back to Liverpool.
You know the rest of the story, but that's my time as a Liverpool supporter. I think most of the fans on this forum belong to my generation. The generation of fans who have seen more downs than ups, dreams crushed and promises unfulfilled.
Imagine how it would feel to finally see us on top again.

Not so strange Wiz. Chelsea are much better defensively than City. I believe we can beat the shit out of City at Anfield. Really rough them cunts up. But I think against Chelsea it'll be a tight match. 2-1 something like that.
Same generation. I started supporting Liverpool in 95/96. We came third and I was stoked. It was a young team, very cool, and I was surewe would win it the next season. We were 'back'. Truth is, I was a very young naive and capricious glory-hunter.
96/97 - No win. (but we have Owen)
97/98 - No win
98/99 - No win. Houllier in. NOW we'd win.
99/00 - No win.
00/01 - No win
01/02 - No win
02/03 - No win.
03/04 - No win
04/05 - ....Light from Heaven. The 2nd Coming!!!
05/06 - No win - Um, No.
06/07 - No win - Shit?
07/08 - No win - Disaster. Shit. Pain.
09/10 - No win - more shit. disaster. Shit shit shit shit. shit. Relegation. Doom.
10/11 - No win - we are saved. Sort of. but still shit.
11/12 - No win
12/13 - No win.
When Man Utd won their 19th I didn't even care because we were so shit, the PL title was a universe away. Never seen us even come really close. Just false dawn year after year.

I think that a 4 point lead isn't an swap/return against Man citys 2 GIH...Sunderland have taken points of them 4 times in the last 5 games.... But Chelsea have the easier run in but...PSG then an in form Stoke...not easy...
we've also got them at home and a 2 point and GD cushion...

Yes a huge task lies ahead but then after the villa and west Brom draw the mountain was much bigger.
8 wins on the bounce, including away hammerings of Utd, Southampton and Cardiff means the mountain has turn into a big hill.
We should have beaten city and got outplayed by Chelsea but both those teams have gone backwards or stood still while we have leap forward 5 fold.
I think if we beat west ham we'll beat city and it will be a lot easier than people think. Barcelona proved city can be dominated. Fuck it arsenal proved you can get at them.
I agree. He's exactly the sort of CF our defenders struggle against. I can see a high scoring game down there with a few defensive frailties on display.
I think Rodgers is showing a great deal of commonsense and maturity in his handling of the situation. I'm sure his calm is rubbing off on the players. I think the younger players will also be focused with Gerrard and Suarez' presence in the team, just imagine being in a team with those 2? - who wouldn't feel 10 feet tall...
Regarding the run-in: if you (Moron et al) are feeling the pressure, just think what it must be like for Chelsea and Man City who have spent vast resources ensuring they have the pick of the world's best Managers and players. They must expect to win it...
Also both teams surely cannot be relishing visiting Anfield not just because of the home teams form but because the atmosphere for those games will be intimidating. I am old enough to remember many instances when just watching the Kop from afar was something to behold and being in it was indescribable. I'm sure it will be just the same as ever it was.
So, you're in a team with Stevie G and Luis, with a packed and rocking Anfield behind you, I don't think they'll be any fear; far from it - just a belief you can win a football match.
And as all true LFC fans know, if either of those teams come to Anfield and turn us over then they will justifiably be Champions. Glorious victory or unbearable disappointment, I've tasted both, I'm not fearful I'm just glad to return to those days when every game was crucial and we were in the thick of it.
