I find lamb isn't one of the meats that really needs basting, it's quite fatty itself. But RN basting rodgers would be quite a sight.

There's one of these strikers every year that is shite but scores a ridiculous amount, before Christmas usually, and then reverts to type for the rest of his career. Vardy is no different. I give you...

Michael Ricketts
Harry Kane
Johan Elmander
Andy Carroll
Amr Zaki
Michu
Grant Holt
DJ Campbell
Roque Santa Cruz
Benjani
Kevin Doyle
Andy Johnson
Marcus Stewart
Plus loads more

Vardy is just the 2015 version of that lot. Don't waste the energy suggesting he's "worth a punt" please.

"Manchester United/ Liverpool/ Arsenal/ Real Madrid are eyeing up a bid for scoring sensation Amr Zaki, who has had a price-tag of £25m slapped on him by his club. The chairman/ owner said last night "Amr is a phenomenally talented player and crucial to our efforts. We want to keep our best players, not sell them, so he's going nowhere, unless someone pays us silly money!"

You missed out Costa.

Oh oo. Vardy apparently stuck his middle finger up at the linesman and could face a ban. He'll be kicking himself if he cost himself an opportunity to equal RVN's record.

How will it cost him? He'll still have a chance to do it in the next game he plays

Could he be facing a ban like Jack Wilshere? He got two games for sticking up his middle finger.

Two points:

1. I don't think the record should stand unless it's consecutive game weeks. I presume RVN scored in 10 consecutive game weeks? If Vardy was to get injured and return in 3 months time and score he would have scored in 10 consecutive games for him but not 10 consecutive game weeks. Does that make sense?

2. The ban might cool him off a bit. He is literally in the form of his life and I don't think he'll recreate this form again. The last thing he needs is a ban now.

Edit: I think they said on MOTD that RVN's 10 games streak continued from one season to another. Tarnishes it a bit for me.

Ya I thought he even missed a game but it must have been over two seasons I was thinking of.

I'm the last person to want to defend Van Kneesstillsore but I don't really see why spreading the run over two seasons should tarnish it. In fact I would say the opposite is true - getting back on the scoring trail from the word "go" after a summer off would be harder than riding the wave for a single season.

Highest registered top speed so far in the EPL. Vardy certainly has more than enough pace to burn.
For those who said Origi didnt have much pace. Well..

1.Jamie Vardy, Leicester – 35.44km/h
2. Jeffrey Schlupp, Leicester – 35.26km/h
3. Divock Origi, Liverpool – 35.15km/h
4. Kyle Walker, Tottenham – 35.09km/h
5. Billy Jones, Sunderland – 35.07km/h
6. Jesus Navas, Man City – 35.06km/h
7. Marc Albrighton, Leicester – 35km/h
8. Victor Moses, West Ham– 35km/h
9. Joshua King, Bournemouth – 34.99km/h
10. Cameron Jerome, Norwich – 34.97km/h

Hmmm. No mention of Walcott? Victor Moses quicker than him?

Not decrying that list particularly (it might be spot on for all I know) but this highlights a hidden problem with stats generally. We see such lists and we seem to automatically accept the figures they set out, but somebody had to (a) do the original measurements and (b) compile each list in the first place. How do we know either's been done accurately or honestly?

Surprised not to see Moreno in there, he's fucking rapid.

Yeah, acceleration is probably much more important than top speed. Origi being super quick after 30 yards mean fuck all if he fails to beat a single player when given the ball.

John Aldridge scored in 10 consecutive games too. But because football was invented by Sky in 1992 it's not being mentioned.

Does John Aldridge hold the record for most goals scored in the league, or am I imaging it?

You're imagining it. For a start: Clive allen scored 49 goals in one season. That was all competitions, but there must have been a fair few in the league.

And Dixie Dean too. he scored a bagload

The league as a whole, not just top flight?
