Pre Match Pre Match - Man City (H) - Sun 16:00

Which means he’s not desperate to stay. If he was he would take what is on the table.

& what is on the table exactly?

He's not going to be disrespected by some no name mug trying to lowball him, otherwise he's going to question just how much he's wanted isn't he?

Desperate to stay means he would do anything to stay.

What does he want on his end? 5 years on a million a week? His agent could be asking for something utterly ludicrous.

Some in the media have said that the sticking-point is the length of the deal and that we've offered 2 years but he wants 3. I can well believe he wants to stay but, if the media are right and if he were genuinely "desperate" to stay, he'd take the 2 years at his age, sacking the agent if need be.

Or we could be chancing our luck and not offered anywhere he feels he is worth. We all been here, pay rise at work and HR comes backs and says your base is market worth according to their own analysis. Then you hand in notice and come back with an offer that's more than what we asked.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s along these lines. We will offer 2 plus 1 optional whereas they are after 4.

He would still be out top earner. If that’s not enough then I’d like to see who would offer him enough to move.

I think would be naive of us to think no one else would pay more. It's a dangerous game and I bet big clubs would offer big money for Mo and Virgil.

No doubt some would offer him big money but how much more than what we would be offering and I think the club know that. There’s no money in Italy or France. Same for Germany. That leaves Madrid/Barca and Saudi.

He'd also be leaving a system of play which has been tailored to suit him over a number of years, at a time when it looks poised to be winning big. No guarantees of that in Spain, especially given his age.

I’d drop both of them for Newcastle with the option to bring them on to reduce the chances of a silly yellow.

Nah i think we still as close to full strength as possible for a trip to St James’. Ideally we are in control enough that we can avoid yellows.
