Would Torres score this?

It's nothing he wasn't capable of, but even the maddest of mad Robbie fans would have to concede that was a bit of a freak goal. Brilliant, but hardly the sort of thing he was pulling off every few games. Or even every few seasons. It was a once-in-a-career bit of magic.

Im going to watch Fowlers hot 100, Gerrards Centurion and Torres top 50 tonight. Then pick a top 10 from each and decide from there who got the best goals.
I'll come back with a definitive top 10 soon.

Owen can blow me.

It was a bit of a freak of a goal but it was typical in a way of Fowler's nous and ability to think that yard quicker than 99.99 % of strikers could.

I require an HD compilation of your best of. You must have people for that, surely? I move we offload some of our forum dross to capture that MilanKakaBaros guy and get him to work.

Ok. Ive watched the Fowler hot 100.
And he was such a natural, such a finisher, such a quick thinking machine.

2 to go.

I love this. "I'm sorry I can't help around the house at all, I'm settling an internet debate, this is very important research"

The sad thing is I think that bloke in his bedroom now does some commentary for Lfc tv.

I said Torres, but it's all subjective really. I think most who've voted for Torres would actively admit that Robbie was probably the most clinical finisher most of us have ever seen. I chose Torres because when he was on fire for us he was unstoppable and he was scoring from everywhere, the screamers against Boro, Inter and Blackburn, the pace to run in behind and chip the keeper, the ability to jink in and out of defenses and take on a few players before planting it in the corner of the net.

As I said, it's all subjective, I'd put Robbie's cup final goal against Brum up there with Torres' Blackburn goal (it was arguably better as it was further out), but for sheer consistency and all round play, Torres just about edges it over those two seasons. Of course there were things Robbie could do that you could argue Torres couldn't - but neither ever scored a goal like Owen's one from outside the box against Barthez, one of the finest examples of clinical finishing I've EVER seen. Anyway, three fantastic strikers along with Rushie whom I've had the pleasure of watching over an extended period of time. Along with Suarez we really have been blessed in the striker department over the years.

Fowler as I say was a better natural finisher plus Torres is a massive bellend so that loses him points.

My favourite Fowler goal is probably his header vs Everton in front of the Kop. Odd choice but there's just something so damn 'Fowler' about it.

I'm out at the moment, but put Fowler Everton into YouTube and there's a compilation of all his goals vs them. There's only one that meets the description, think it was the 96/97 season.

For sheer outrageous genius this is certainly my personal favourite among Robbie's goals and may well be the best goal I've ever seen in my entire life, but for me one-offs are less relevant to this debate than consistency. For all his extraordinary talent, Robbie never quite managed to scare defences sh!tless over a period of time the way Torres did in his prime for us.

You really think that? Even though he had 30 goals 3 straight seasons? Either defenses were really stupid back then, or no one took him seriously b/c of he was a Spice Boy

I was wondering about that comment as well. If anything Robbie was at his peak goal scoring form for a much longer period than Torres.

I'll hold my hand up and admit I'd forgotten those figures, but I don't recall him ever being described in the terms used about Torres when both were at their peak. I suspect the Spice Boys thing does indeed have a lot to do with that.

Just spent 10 minutes watching a clip of all of Torres' goals. What a player he was for us.

Still can't find a clip of all of Fowler's goals. Maybe it's because it needs twice as much time and disk space and guys hit connection timeouts or hit their disk quota when uploading.

Tell you what other goal I love. That absolute rocket Robbie scored against Man U where he just lamped it and it hit the top near corner. Schmeichel didn't even move
