Rasmus Elm

He's not very good no but he's developed well the last couple of years and I wouldn't be surprised if he could become a very good player. My guess (if we sign him) is that we are getting rid of a couple of players (Cole, Aquilani, Kuyt, maxi and perhaps one cm of Shelver or Adam) and we're signing him as a squad player with good potential. In that case I wouldn't be against it.

Rasmus Elm sounds like a private eye in a 1970s blaxploitation movie. Probably played by Richard Roundtree.

Never seen him play but he looks quite a player judging from those clips. How old is he?

21-22 i think
We are both to lazy to google him. But 21-22 will do for me.

Reckon his prize must be somewhere around the £150M mark with regards to his unknown £50M rated teammate.

Isn't this girouds first seasons doing anything of note?

If we can get him for 5m then why not. Belhanda though....yes please (but i'd rather kagawa)

Liverpool scouts travelled to Denmark to watch the £8 million-rated target, who is out of contract next year, but were left disappointed, after the midfielder opted not to play.

“I didn’t know Liverpool [scouts] were in the stadium,” Elm told De Telegraaf. “But if so, too bad for them.

“I want to play as well as possible and will start thinking about my future after the Euros. When the focus on playing is gone, I can start thinking about my future. I’ve got one year left on my contract here at Alkmaar and I don’t have to leave.”

Elm, who has been a long-term Liverpool target, was also forced to defend his decision not to play.

He continued: “There was no other option for me. End of discussion.

“There will always be a new match, but not a new first daughter. Everybody can say or think what they want but I wanted to be with my girlfriend and daughter.

“That is the only good decision. I don’t know why I’m even standing here to defend myself.”

Dalglish and Clarke were at the Toulouse Montpellier game the other night.
Wasn't it the Evian v Montpellier game? In which case they will have come undone as Christian Poulsen was out injured.

*badum-tiiiish*

Just so we all will take everything with a pinch of salt when it comes to French prospects I have to share this. I'm not saying Belhanda not looks good. Or Hazard etc. BUT!

Christian Poulsen has according to Evians manager and fans been their player of the Season - and buy of the Season too. Just saying.

Good for Evian. Good for Liverpool.
I know mate, it's still a bit weird as he really looked a completely different and very poor player for us. And now he's being described as one of the best holding midfielders in Ligue 1. Which probably ALSO says something about the overall quality.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is ready to battle Liverpool for AZ Alkmaar’s Swedish midfield star Rasmus Elm.

Pardew flew to Holland to watch the Swede in action against Feyenoord at the weekend, but was disappointed to see that Elm was missing after becoming a father.

If we were to buy a holding midfielder in that prize bracket this one is a far better choice imo.

William Kvist, Stuttgart

Not only has he more or less owned Elm whenever they've played, he's had a storming first Season in the Bundelsliga given loads of credit for Stuttgart rejuvination as team. He's a general on the pitch, doesn't make many errors if any at all and one the finest balance-players I've seen in a long while. Imo better than Lucas. He's being criticized in one area mind, he doesn't score enough and needs to be more selfish.

A lot is depending on Kvist with regards to Denmark's chances for the upcoming EC as he's pretty much the unsong hero of the team. Combines Agger's defense with Eriksen and Bendtner's attack. He's no Martinez but if we're talking £8-10M DM he'd be a very good shout.

I preferred Elm's vid. He gets the ball and gives it, no fucking about. The danish lad didn't release it early enough in some parts of his vid.

Kvist is very good on the ball, and quite quick on the first few yards, why he can actually skim past players. I haven't seen Elm do that LIVE nor in his vids. It's all good you can spray the ball around but it'll get immensely stationary if everyone has to always pass it around in midfield. Very Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Spearing-like.

Another thing I at least know we'd get from a type like Kvist. He can apply pressure. The reason why FC Copenhagen enjoyed such a succesful CL campaign last year was mainly imo down to Kvist knowing how to own the midfield and apply pressure. Even FC Barcelona struggled in Parken against the Danes as they got closed down from the first minute. According to Pep Guardiola, speaking shortly after the game, he said that it was the toughest game Barca had had all year and that his players was knackered, simply because they were being tracked down instead of being allowed to dicate play around the opponents penalty area as per.

We probably shoudn't buy Kvist either, all I'm saying is as a holding midfielder type he's more what he need than Elm.

Yeah. I can't recall having seen either play but from the video footage both of them would be 'meh' signings.

Whoever we sign we're gonna expect him to be top class as if pulling on the Liverpool kit magically turns you into a better footballer. We all knew deep down that Downing, Hendo and Adam were average but we still expected them to do wonders.
Please, when we sign Fletcher don't do a comparison with Man U's team and make him look better than Welbeck, resulting in that we have a better starting XI than them.
