Post match Thoughts - City (A)

I thought Skrtel had a good game mate but he didn;t even jump for the ball for Kompany's goal he was that busy grapling with him. He gave himself no opportunity to get some leverage to attack the ball.

I agree. And that bit aside he did have a good game.

He did that with Kompany at least twice again in the second half. Either could have resulted in a goal or a penalty if the delivery had been good enough.

He made some excellent interventions and tackles, but he was pretty rubbish at handling the aerial stuff, which is a huge part of what a central defender has to do. He may get away from it on most days, but it doesn't happen against quality opposition. Ivanovic and Cahill are going to be another handful on Sunday, and I'm worried what Skrtel will do.

Fucked off with our Keeps. Why do modern day keepers have such big egos that they always have to dive for the big camera shot. Even if a ball is straight at them.

Gutted that the chance Raheem missed was not roles reversed.

So many teams will get dicked at city and we deserved a draw.

We are a good title yes title chasing team

Hendo is superb. Brazil World Cup could be for him.

Fox, he wasn't diving for the cameras, the way Negredo shaped up looked like he was going to put it in the top corner, so Mignolet anticipated it, it was only because Negredo got his shot wrong, that he scored.

Mignolet should have done much better. But he's been excellent for us and won us many points already.
So I wont bother going after him about it. He seems very strong mentally and wont be affected by it. He didnt look it in the second half yesterday.

Exactly. I actually think negredo mishit it tbh, in which case Mignolet was right to anticipate it.

He's won us for more points than he's lost us this season, I refuse to be overly critical of him.

Yeah, there's no point in crucifying him for it. I think he was caught flat footed, the ball moved and Mignolet might have been guilty of thinking he could palm it either side, but basically just misjudged it. It happens, people need to learn to accept that players do occasionally make mistakes, it's human nature, it's a game that's built on split second decisions. The key is limiting how often those decisions go the other way.

Some idiot was stood behind me after that goal saying that we should never have got rid of Reina, how many mistakes had Pepe made at this stage last season, or the season before?

We didn't have a goal disallowed. Hart had stopped playing and Sterling booted the ball in the back of the net long after the whistle had gone. It's not quite the same.

We had an amazing chance taken away from us but it wasn't a 100% goal.
Whatever mate. My point still stands.

Game went about as I expected except I didn't think we'd have so much of it in the first 30.

You can forget the miss by Johnson and Coutinho - Sterling's was miss of the season. Not interested in pissy excuses - a Sunday league player would put it in. Terrible.

Thought we deserved a draw - not the better team but it was bloody close.

We needed Gerrard or Sturridge if only to give Suarez more room. A tough game which saw us go up everywhere except on the table.

It was a bad miss. But Fowler also made the point that after the miss he was clattered by the defender. Something which, anywhere else would have resulted in a free kick and probably a booking for late challenge. Doesn't excuse the miss but the challenge is something that has been overlooked.
