The side that won 5 trophies in one year?
The side that won the CL?
The side that got to the CL final in 2007?

Oh wait you mean the side wiht Babb macateer and Kvarme in it?

You mustn't watch alot of us so.

It seems your puny memory only recalls the players and trophies. I recall each day, each depressing game and lost opportunity. Those sides were insanely cautious, they effectively squandered the talent of the world class players we had. You remember a trophy. I remember the trophies we didn't win because we regularly dropped points through a complete lack of adventure and a pathological fear of taking risks against inferior opposition.

Roy Evans didn't have anything approaching that kind of talent in his squad. His defence should have been involved in relegation battles. However, because of the formation, tactics, and attacking mentality we competed for the title each season.

Right now our attack is almost as good as when we had McManaman, Fowler and Collymore. The centre backs are nowhere near as shit as Babb and Kvarme. Rodgers has the same attacking mentality as Evans used to. He could go on and win a title if he used the same formation.

I agree with parts of that Mark.

We played the best I have seen for Mandy's a year in a 433 system and I'd happily see us continue.

Unfortunately, Gerrard isn't quite right in the deep midfield role and it would mean possibly sacrificing Sturridge in a starting role.

Sterling & Coutinho's technical ability & movement isn't quote matching with their finishing & decisive creativity, yet, to make them absolute first choice.

.... And the fullbacks are still a bit shit.

I guess a big dilemma for Rodgers, vs the good of the team is having to deal with a fading Gerrard and a Sturridge who's adamant he won't be moved from a central role, pushing Suarez to one side for this creates similar potential issues. He's got big decisions to make, because we've also got two very good understudies in Coutinho and Sterling waiting in the wings and good enough IMO to be starting regularly. Competition is healthy and all that, but it's a pain in the arse when you're playing one game a week.

I did enjoy watching us under Roy (Evans that is not the other one). But I also get very depressed when I remember the year we missed out on the title because David James video games obsession affected his concentration in the run in. Never forgiven him for that

BTW - wasn't it Souness who introduced 3 at the back? I seem to recall Walters & Dean Saunders playing the wing back role at times.

James is one of my least favorite Reds ever. Utter helmet.

There are some serious flaws in your logic. I fear for your court case.

shit, i like lucas but he's been very unlucky with injuries, we need to buy a first team DM this window otherwise i fear we'll be seeing a lot of stevie there for the rest of the season....

I didn't even know Souness had been our manager when I started watching Roy's team. I think I heard about his heart attack at some point later and was like whoa the fuck was he ever our manager, how did I miss that?

I remember the late 80's team. I remember the mid 90's team. In between I was busy with high school stuff.

Scans showed that he damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee in a challenge with Fabien Delph, and sources have told ESPN FC he is likely to be out until late March.

This certainly leaves us short in midfield especially considering Gerrard's age and waning powers and Allen's susceptibility to injury.

Buying another midfielder is one option however I'd prefer that out of this difficulty, Rossiter is given the opportunity to establish himself in Liverpool's engine room for the next decade.

We needed a midfielder before the Lucas injury, all this does is confirm how threadbare we are in midfield, 4 senior midfielders for 3 starting positions was never going to be enough to last a full season, especially as Henderson is the only one who isnt a strong breeze away from getting injured. We had about a dozen of the fuckers two years ago, but like my wages in the pub on a Friday night they all seem to have disappeared with noticing

During January is the best time for him to get an injury I guess as it means we can look to address, either be loan if Lucas is seen as a long term player for us (I think he is, and agree with that) or a replacement if he isn't.

What CAN'T happen is Rodgers using this as his opportunity to put Gerrard in that role, as he just isn't that player. I fear this is what we will see happen though. Maybe someone like Rossiter who he has promoted to the first team squad will get a go but I highly doubt that and it is a major risk.

good stuff, it's a shame he's not quite shook off that big injury, for someone who was always reliable for being fit and able to play game after game on the bounce.

How many weeks are a few weeks? If it's 1-2 it's good news. However if it's 6-8 it's pretty bad.

Excuse me if I take your memory on our football with a pinch of salt as you openly admit to forgetting Souness managed us.

Your argument has so many f*cking holes in it its laughable.
