Kolo Toure deal agreed !

Well, whatever he is and however shite he is, he's won something none of our players have ever had, twice.

I wonder what fans of the likes of Arsenal/Chelsea/City might have said had their management chose to bring in Jamie Carragher in the Summer of 2011 or 2012 on a short contract?

Probably that he's shite and finished, and they're going backwards, and they're overspending on wages, etc. I'm sure he'd have done a job though if only as back up.

And Jamie seems to have agreed with them, apart from the shite bit, seeing as he's said he thought carefully about going a year earlier.

Based on what?
I wont, I'll hope hes world class. Because im a Liverpool supporter and not a cunt.

I fucking loathe posts like yours. Bullshit net casting without the balls to back it up.
If you think 'certain' people will hope he fails, feel free to name them. If i'm one of them we'll chat about it until ive proved you wrong, then we'll move on.

Hero fan?

Bit pathetic really.

Is it really pathetic? You're being a bit naive if you don't think there are fans on here who love all that shite, Brendan was like that, Modo's done it over Downing, everyone has their pet hates and I'm sure some take it to the extremes, the gloating when they fuck up suggests as much, they fucking love it.

Yet he still came in and did a better job than most have mustered together in a Liverpool shirt of late, so whether or not he thought he was ready, he was still capable of being a reasonable enough back up, infact his leadership qualities and no nonsense defending proved invaluable.

I don't think many if any will gloat if Toure turns out to be a poor signing. You'd hope he'll do better than expected. I just think most of us regard him as someone whose main claim to be a contender is being the least worst candidate available, for the right wages, for a very short term role, and it's a bit much when a few on here get so exercised if the rest of us don't react to that as if we're Might bloody Red!

Yes, much, if we're honest, to most of our surprise. Does that make much difference if we're trying to think what Chelski/Arse fans would have thought if he'd gone there at that stage?

Course it does, because the preconception would be the likes of what I said, that he's "finished", "not good enough", he might have surprised a few people, as he surprised us. I'm not saying Toure can do the same, but the criticism I've seen put forward is that he was "skinned by Sterling earlier in the season", or that he's got a fat arse. Carragher was skinned about 6 years ago in a cup game against lower league opposition by a young player who was tipped off by Thierry Henry about his weaknesses, it happens. Like I said, I can't say I've seen enough of Kolo of late to argue the toss either way, but some of the criticisms put forward seem like fashionable bandwagon jumping.

He's signed, let's give him a go rather than getting stuck in from the off.

Yes, he's better than spending £12m+ on Williams. PR at its best.

Well, its more thats the other "experienced" CB Rodgers had a serious interest in.
Its a bit of a shite example mate, I agree.

The point is Toure is at least a free transfer, and if he's horrendous the risk is hs wages not a massive fee aswell.

Course it is, it's nauseating both ways, some of the criticism's are over the top, and some of the rose tinted stuff is equally so. He's got a good history but has looked piss poor and out of shape for a while, there's pros and cons, but he cost little and is in some respects a lesser gamble.

Are anyone posting rose tinted views though? If anyone is pointing a me, I'll have get my act together when writing in English.

The player Toure: No. An experienced cb, low cost etc: Yes.
And when its official that we've signed him, why not look a what he can add. The off the field stuff I've posted is positive. How he'll cope when playing is the big question. Hopefully he'll be alright when called upon. He's been a bit hit and miss the last year for City and lets hope he'll have a good pre season.

Yep, I agree with this. People on here troll the shit out of it and gloat when their pet hate player performs poorly.

Brendan was terrible for this. It seemed he was actually enjoying Crouch's suffering in front of goal. The Lucas boo boys hammered at their keyboards telling us how useless he was and how right they were. Reina even has his share of detractors who log on to gloat if he makes a mistake. Ryan & co pounce on any mistake Agger makes. Modo with Downing, Carragher etc.

Now, I’m not saying these posters actively hope a player performs badly so they can stick the knife in but over the years it's naive to think it doesn't happen from time to time. A poster on here isn’t actively hoping for a mistake but it doesn’t stop them being smug bastards logging on to stick the knife in. Apologies, I’m rambling.

This is meant to be one of his better performances. Like i said earlier he's here so of course fans will support him, but his heading ability is bloody awful and always has been. But i don't think any fan wants toure to fail, just expecting him to do so as he's not very good.

How is it fucking net casting?
As soon as he has a bad game I'm sure people will bump old threads about who thought it was a good idea and who was against it.
Like with Joe Allen,Glen Johnson,Daniel Agger,Downing etc.
You know it too.
Hero fan?
You're better than that so insult me fucking proper if you're going to do it at all.

Rule #1 - Never trust a centre-half that wears gloves.

Alright. Youre a cunt.

I don't get this attitude. I didn't need to give Pennant a go when he signed because I knew he was shit and him putting on a Liverpool shirt wasn't going to change that.

Like yourself, I haven't seen enough of Toure recently to know whether he's properly past it or not, but if others have, why shouldn't they be able to say so without someone coming down on them?

The assumption is always that people are being negative for the sake of it but if an opinion is backed by knowledge surely that's fine, right?

Ultimately everyone wants Liverpool players to do well and I don't think the point scoring you see on Internet forums is evidence to the contrary. All that shit goes out the window during game time.
