The other thing I would do is put Johnson on the left and play Kelly. I'd also have Ibe on the bench. We're not actually that bad if Rodgers sticks to his original 433 tactics and picks players on merit rather than bias. Of course in reality he will do neither.
Again, largely agree. The only exception is that I'm more hopeful than you about Rodgers picking the players he should pick. He'll know he has to produce a realistic challenge for 4th at the very least, even if - perhaps especially if - we don't actually get there.
Suarez and Sterling wide, Sturridge up front. Chances of? Zero.
Allen in the holding role and Coutinho in the middle. Chances? Zero.
Ibe on the bench at the expense of the stupidly expensive Alberto or Borini? Again, zero.
Kelly ahead of Enrique? Zero, I don't even think Kelly will make the bench ahead of Skrtel.
Kelly and Ibe will most certainly be on the bench at the very least.
If Suarez stays I can definitely see him playing with Sturridge and Aspas (don't really care too much about Sterling right now).
Allen's biggest challenge is playing against a good attacking team. Going backwards is tough for him and seems to be out of place in our defensive shape. Lucas is struggling
Diame would be a cheap alternative to Allen in the most forward position of a midfield three. I think he's more of a goal threat while being able to provide more steel and physical presence.
I predict we will concede a fuck load of goals, but score a load too. We still do not have a commanding midfield presence to go alongside an aging Gerrard. Worrying.
