Really chuffed that he got 2 goals in this game.

For the majority of the season various people have been commenting that he is often in the right place but often gets over looked. @doctor_mac for one! And he had fluffed a few good chances of late too.

This should give both him and those around him even more confidence. I think he can be a 10-12 goal a season midfielder in coming years as he is so good at finding space in the box.

What a turnaround for him in the past 18 months!

Yeah, if he starts adding goals consistently then he could become a proper club legend. He's got an absolutely first rate attitude, and he's one of the most vocal leaders on the pitch for us, always organising his team mates throughout the game. I don't doubt he will be Liverpool Captain after SG.

After three years of being constantly mauled for saying he's a great player and that he'll come good, this season has been very satisfying, the usual Hendo haters are very quiet 🙂

Oh, and the Lampard comparison gets made quite often, those goals on Sunday where very Lampard-esc.

He's not been here for 3 years and do you have to pat yourself on the back every time this subject comes up? It's nauseating.

A fair few had belief in Henderson's talent.

You were mauled because he wasn't a great player.

He's slowly turning into a very good one.

STILL wouldn't call him great

He joined in 2011, and yes I do, considering the amount of shit you get for sticking by him.

I would, he's a pivotal part of a team thats pushing for the title. He's not a world beater, he's not one of the best in the league, but he is great.

I will say one thing Mystic - that both of his goals were Lampardesque, but he'll have to do that consistently ... Is he capable? Not sure, but here's hoping.

I don't think he'll ever been Lampard esc, he seems to have more energy but less goalscoring ability, but given the comparisons in the past, I thought it was an interesting point as they were straight out of his catalogue.

They are no Hendo haters. I don't think so anyway. The majority wanted more from him when he first arrived but he's turned it around so everyone is happy. He is one of my favourite players anyway.

I think you're off the mark here Mystic.

Henderson was savaged at times but it was deserved. He came in with a big price tag and walked into the first team. He did nothing to warrant the immediate inclusion and did nothing to justify his stay in the team. He was a passenger in games and admitted he hadn't been good enough.

It was frustrating as it was obvious he had it all to be a very good player. Good touch, energetic running, commitment, non smoker, non drinker, dedicated trainer.

He has turned it around and has even become a fan's favourite due to his passionate displays.

I think he's great. Long may it continue.

Hendo deserved all the flack he got. People who criticised him often added that he had potential.

I think the main problem was that everyone judged him on that price tag and assumed he should be an instant hit, when it was blindingly obvious that he was bought in for the long haul, and his obvious potential wouldn't start being fulfilled until, well about now.

Ok. We get it. You said he'd come good when people were questioning him starting so frequently. Congrats.

Mystic behave.

He was average at best for two years, that's all anybody cared about.

Funnily enough, now he warrants that price tag you hear no chat about it. He's got a long way to go, I think he will do it though.

If you pay that much for someone, you expect at the very least to get some return in the first two seasons, we got next to nothing. He's improved massively in the past couple of months, but still has a way to go to justify his price tag(not that the price is his fault). If he continues as he's going, I think nobody will be able to complain.

But, the criticism in his first two seasons was justified.

Wasn't he a key figure in our run in the second half last season? Newcastle, Fulham etc

He went straight into the team at the expense of Kuyt. Henderson didn't warrant that inclusion or justify his stay in the team. I felt he should have been used sparingly to allow him to build some confidence and step up a level at a bigger club. But he was put straight into the team. He cost 16- 20 million. People were frustrated and vented on a internet forum. Henderson plugged away for 18 months (after nearly being used in a swap for CLint Dempsey) and is now a very important player for us. Everyone is happy.

Maybe, I don't remember that he was. For me it's only been since about October that he's performed at a level that's good enough. He was average to poor before that. But that will all be forgotten about if he keeps to the level he's been at recently.

I concur re: the last bit.

Wasn't Henderson the player missing on pretty much every occasion we were defeated last season? He was getting a bit of stick when he didn't deserve it because he wasn't doing anything easily quantifiable to some on the pitch yet still contributing greatly. He has grown since then and has become way more influential.

I like that Rodgers formulates an opinion on players quickly and seems to act on it but selling him to Fulham would've been a massive fuck up, well done to him at the same time for getting the best out of Henderson.

I don't think hendo will ever be great, he's not technically very good. But, he's like Kuyt - he makes up for it in graft and enthusiasm. He's gone from one of those players we all wanted to flog asap like downing, to one none of would want to see go now, excellent squad player.

Am I reading that incorrectly or are the figures displayed to look impressive but the improvement is actually marginal at best and largely based on minutes played?

2012/13 - 30 x 51 = 1530 minutes
a chance created every [hl]46mins[/hl]
a tackle every 41mins
a dribble every 90mins

2013/14 - 27 x 89 = 2403 minutes
a chance created every 49mins
a tackle every [hl]40mins[/hl]
a dribble every [hl]54mins[/hl]

Perhaps it's per match?
