Slot-ball

He was auditioning for a job with them.
Problem with those cunts is, we live in their heads when it comes to European competition and we are the only team to come close to them in (timeframe dominance) European dominance because we did it from post mid 70's to mid 80's, even beating them in a final. The Italians had their great years with AC Milan only when English teams were banned so ots a bit false IMO. Thats why whenever we beat them they remember those players and want to buy them. Already some shit been spoken regarding Gravenberch being a target. I can already see them being interested in Mac10, and of course the new 'Spanish' Jones. Fuck them.

Also, just want to add, although I have no love for City, Chelsea or PSG, I do like the fact that them being around meant that neither Real/Barca have automatic rights to the best players.

I always thought Mac was heading towards them. If they want Gravenberch then give us £250 million.

No its not and never has been, recently maybe

So for those keeping score at home.

In his first 20 odd games in charge he’s;

Beaten the champions of England
Beaten the champions of Spain
Beaten the champions of Germany
Won every CL game so far
Advanced to the q/f of the league cup
9pts clear in the league

Dreamland stuff.

Yes but when are the tests coming?

This may have slipped under the radar.

But ever since this was posted our form has begun to stutter.

Obv not alarm bells yet but just saying…

Have to say Slot really impressed me yesterday. Going down to 10 men and tinkering with about 3-4 formations and set ups before we found our approach. We created more chances with 10 men then Fulham and dominated parts of the game. He is simply an excellent manager.

No doubt that we will win titles with him in charge.

No doubt that we will win titles with him in charge as long as he is backed. The board are not known to back the manager with signings when its crucial, history says so at least

Edwards has been an infrequent visitor to the club’s training base in Kirkby so far this season as he leaves Hughes to get on with the day-to-day running of Liverpool.

Their personalities are very different: Edwards can be combative, Hughes more calm and measured. However, the owners believe they complement each other well.

It was Hughes who oversaw the process which led to the identification and appointment of Slot as head coach in May and the subsequent additions to his backroom staff.

Across all the different data metrics provided by director of research Will Spearman, from playing style to injury prevention, and outperforming his resources, Slot came out on top. The character references Hughes assembled were glowing and, crucially, Slot also had the self-belief to embrace the challenge of following in Klopp’s footsteps.

Ruben Amorim, who left Sporting Lisbon for Manchester United last month, was among the other contenders considered. But Liverpool felt that his favoured three-at-the-back formation wouldn’t suit the current squad. They also had doubts over whether the Anfield crowd would warm to his playing style.

In contrast, when Liverpool sent a delegation to Feyenoord games, they were struck by how Slot’s brand of football energised the Dutch club’s passionate, working-class fanbase.

Have to say this has been a genuinely good process of searching for a new manager - no panic, not asking Klopp to appoint his successor like United did with Fergie, just trusting their judement and process and the result so far has been brilliant.

Interesting thing about Slot is that he sometimes makes multiple tactical/positional adjustments in a game without making substitutions. We saw it most strikingly against Fulham when he tried something, it didn’t work, tried another tactic and then settled on 3rd that finally allowed us to dominate.

When something doesn’t quite work to his liking, it takes him about 5 minutes to recognize it, make a decision on how to change and communicate it to players. This is modern coaching - gone are the days when a manager would watch and suffer through 45 minutes of shite before making any changes - now it’s a lot faster and more seamless. And it’s a huge advantage against teams who are not flexible/versatile/well-coached enough to be able to make these kinds of micro-adjustments mid-game.

This is like racing Formula 1 and your car is far more responsive and nimble than most opponents - in the end that may matter more than pure speed.

Yeah it felt like a strange and underwhelming move back then but fair play. Did Hughes also sign the current Bournemouth manager? Short but very impressive record if so

Finally!!!!

Good process lads…
