Turning in some great displays of late.

Sorts his shooting out, and we have ourselves one fine player.

The introducing of Lallana in the side has upped his game I think..

Just love his trickery and watching him play..

He's one of the best around with the ball at his feet. There are very few players that can do what he can.

The difference between him and the top class players is his output in the final third. That final ball, decision... shot... the consistency and quality isn't quite there yet.

Still, he's a real asset regardless of his faults and I love watching him play.

A series of about 8 consecutive 8/9/10 out of 10 performances of late.

Brilliant progress from the wee magician.

I get that he's improving, but let's be real here - he's no David Silva. Not by quite a stretch.

David Silva wasn't David Silva at his age, if that makes sense. Coutinho is as good as Silva was at the same age, or something close to it.

Yeah he's far from it.
The comparison probably isn't fair either though.
If we are comparing him to Am's of similar age he's right up there.
His shooting needs to improve massively though to make the next step.

Also, I don't really think they're that comparable. I know they play similar positions, but they have markedly different styles. Countinho reminds me of Aimar so much.

When Silva was 22, he scored 4 goals in 34 appearances for Celta Vigo ... He's only ever scored 10 goals in all competitions once in a season ... Coutinho is nowhere near him in terms of quality, but he's also not close to his peak ... If he comes close to the player Silva is, I'll be happy though I'd hope for a higher goal return considering how often he finds himself in goal scoring positions.

He does, but I think he's already better than him, simply because of the aggression he's added to his game.
What I don't understand is how such a gifted player can be so shite at shooting.

Coutinho isn't like Silva. They pick up the ball in different positions, occupy different areas and have different intentions for the ball. Coutinho is now our most effective ball carrier. His ability to gather the ball in tight areas and carry it is phenomenal. He can go right or left and seems to have the balance to simply glide past the opposition. He's closer to an Isco than a Silva. Wait, how about we (me included) stop comparing him to other players and appreciate him for who he his. He's a magician.

Always had the skill but needed the consistency. He's definitely more consistent now.

Yep - he's playing with the sort of consistency that was lacking earlier in the season. Obviously having a more mobile striker ahead if him in Sterling, has helped.

As mentioned countless times, better end product added to the consistency and he's proper world class.
