Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

Which would be an obvious reaction to being told you can expect to be loaned out. Which would put player and buying club in the driving seat.

To be honest the way rodgers has handled this is pretty poor. I wonder if its a bit rodgers trying to get a positive reaction from carroll. It may have backfired here.

Rodgers better get this right.
It's a gamble already and it better work out for the club.

The best way to look at it is that the buy was a gamble in the first place, and by and large, we haven't really benefited from it. He might return to haunt us, but for all his potential, he's also got some fundamental flaws that can't just be ironed out by getting older.

I doubt it was about trying to get a positive reaction, it's seemed pretty obvious since that press conference that he was off. Either Rodgers doesn't fancy him for the setup, the powers that be want him sold, or it's the most obvious way to raise the necessary funds to rebuild. Or a combination, probably.

But surely that in its self is really poor. Not even willing to look at the player in preseason and give him a chance to prove himself. He's just come off the end of a promising end of season and did ok for England. I'm not his biggest fan but he should be given the opportunity to prove Rodgers wrong.

He could at the very least have giving him a chance to fit into his system.
It's deja vu with Rodgers with his Reading days he was brought in by Madjeski to make changes while given insurance that his job would be under no pressure in the short term.
He changed too much too quick in the short term (ala Souness) and got the boot after 5 months.
I get the feeling Rodgers might have been undermined by the owners here but I suppose time will tell.

I'm not so sure. It isn't as if Rodgers has never watched Carroll at close quarters before, given his history of involvement with Premiership teams. There'll certainly be a risk in letting Carroll go now, but the risk of keeping him and seeing him fail in a system which the manager doesn't think will suit him (which in turn would cut his transfer value, probably quite significantly) may well be even greater.

all this Rodgers should give him a chance nonsense. he doesn't rate him end of story and wants to get rid. he can see what most of us can that Carroll is a limited footballer. plus remember when he joined Liverpool Rodgers said the first thing he will do is watch dvds of all our matches last season. so he's seen plenty of Carroll already and doesn't want him. it may come back to bite him in the ass but somehow i doubt it.

I find it astonishing and utterly stupid that Rodgers said that Andy was available for a loan move.
It takes the ball out of our court while haggling over a transfer fee now.
Whether it be Newcastle or whoever now the ball is in their court.
How do you get a decent fee for a player who is being forced out,the new manager doesn't want and probably never wanted to be here.
We are going to get shafted here big time.
This transfer has been a shambles from start to finish and I don't even know who to blame for it.

More fantastic negotiating skillz by everyone at LFC.

It's just one set of dickheads after another.

Is it though? We go on about managers not watching players before they buy them and try to shoehorn into a system they don't fit into, so what difference would watching him in pre-season make? If Rodgers knows his stuff and has watched him enough, he'd know already, surely?

This is very simple Woland (& Leo) - we set the price. 20 million, or fuck off. There's no need to bargain, or nothing. Either they pay, or he stays with us. And considering they don't seem keen on Ba (and he not so on them), I think they'll eventually pay if they really want him (especially as they walked away from their #1 target, De Jong)

It's not about whether Rodgers has already made his mind up on him. Rodgers may well be right - Carrolll will never work and he'll spend the money on someone better and Liverpool will improve. - but the fact is that even if he is right, he's just completely monged the whole situation up financially by giving the onus to the player and whichever club wants him.

And then what happens if they don't pay 20?
We are stuck with a player on huge wages who doesn't want to be here.
He won't be a Liverpool player come September and if we can get 20 I'll be happy but I get the feeling we won't.

This is exactly why, when appointing a young manager, the lizards should have stuck to their guns and got an experienced DoF and told Rodgers to get on with coaching the side. He'd have already made his salary back this week.

He's only holiday for another week because of the Euro's, why are all the news agencys ignoring this just to create a story, i suppose i just answered my own question there.

NE correspondent on talksport (some guy who knows Carroll well apparently) about 30 mins ago said that Carroll has been taken out of the tour squad (previously was named) and has made clear he'd like to return to Newcastle.

He also stated that a fair chunk of the original fee is still outstanding to Newcastle so Tyneside his most likely destination anyway and that Carroll is on 70k a week at the moment.

Things supposedly moving quickly and clear that Rodgers wishes to move him on.

SSN are saying Carroll hasn't gone on the tour.

Jesus sky are unbelievable. The lads still on holidays the same as the rest of the English lads. Talk about shit stirring.

Having said that, if he wanted to prove himself he should have came back early, the same goes for downing.

Looking more and more obvious he's on his way now. It's a shame but not surprising. The lads got talent its just a shame he showed far too little of it.

I'm gutted about this. But its clear as day he's on his way now. Just a matter of getting the right fee and he's off.
I can understand that he's annoyed about not getting a chance to prove himself.
Hope Rodgers has a couple of gems up his sleeve cause we need some exciting signings.

What are the odds of Carroll scoring against next year then......

I will give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt, but we must sign a striker and/or winger before the season starts. It can't be all on Borini's shoulders this early on (as Suarez is @ the Olympics)

Dunno why anyone would be gutted about this. He's never been good enough and never will be.

Yes, he's showed some glimpses of promise but if it's true that he wants the move, we're hardly going to be seeing the 'new' Andy with something to prove.

Tell Newcastle it's £25m or they fuck off. They still made £10m for bugger all and we get a good chunk of cash back.
