That's the spirit. I think the main thing Henderson lacks is confidence.
I'm not sure why Sunny after his manager backed him to the hilt. Make or break season for him I think especially with Shelvey playing the same position and Suso emerging. He must grab his opportunity now or get left behind.

Not disagreeing with you mate but that's what I see when I watch the lad. He needs to increase his maturity levels rapidly.

He needs to stamp his authority on games, take some risks and improve his decision making.

He hasn't gone anywhere Fox.

I thought you'd learned the lesson about taking journalist's words & twitter rumours (often one & the same) as gospel.

Also, I'm not sure a 35m signing can be classed as a 'cult hero', even if he does have a pony tail.

I know I know but surely this time it cannot just be paper bollox, its everywhere and noises from the club are not convinving me he won't go.

I like him and I like having England's up and coming talent at our club not just foreign players.

We should keep him

Henderson fits the pass and move style Rodgers embraces. He'll also thrive in a 4-3-3.

He'll be very very good next season, just wait and see.
He thrives in a 4-3-3, since when? When has he thrived at all under any system? Not denying that he can pass 5 yards, good work rate and good first touch. But he hasn't thrived at anything at all. He's not good going forward and not good as a defensive midfielder. He just plays safe passes at short distance. Now under Rodgers that could be a asset as we'll be going to what he can do, but i don't call that thriving at all. I call that making the most of your average ability. Shelvey looks the better prospect.

why whats so special about having english players at the club? Scouse i can understand, but don't see why having english players makes a difference to a foreigner.

Apart from the homegrown rule, none really.

homegrown rule and I just like having English players in my team as well as the foreign lads.

I thought it was great that we had the most players in the England squad

we don't need english players for the homegrown rule otherwise wenger would be screwed. also i more care about talent than their passport. carroll, henderson and downing are average talented players. Plus you always have to overpay for that average english talent which is why we're so broke now after wasting so much money.

I think there's more chance of them settling and staying 8-10 years as well.
staying in england maybe, not staying at the same club. All players care about is money. you offer more and they go. English loyalty went out of football years ago.

He has a tendency to play first touch passes, and whether they are safe or short is unimportant. Right now if he can improve his confidence then his style of play is something the opposition can't get near to or close down in time. So I'd keep him.

Well clearly players getting homesick does happen, so it's not *just* money players care about. All other things being equal, I think you've got a better chance of keeping hold of British players than foreign ones.

But that's just a benefit I see. I still think overall foreign players are much better value and what we should mainly be looking at.

Who is Danny Graham? It was only two years ago, i knew every footballer in the planet i think.....now i know no body!

With all due respect to Carroll though, he's nothing near the quality of Drogba, I think people are too dismissive of Drogba's ability because he is dogged. He's also got fantastic technique, a great touch and is mobile. He's the complete forward/striker.

In fairness though was Drogba all of those things at 23?

He was better than Drogba was at 23 but he won't ever be better than Drogba was late 20's/early 30s.

The main thing he lacks is a clear role in the side, to date we've been happy to use him as a work horse which for a young player who's still developing and trying to establish his role in the team isn't helpful.

Like I've said before he has all the attributes, he's comfortable on the ball, he's a decent passer, decent tackler, eye for playing a forward ball and most importantly for a young player he works hard and is willing to learn.

I believe in Henderson.

Good post and I pretty much agree, but he'll have to make sure he takes his chances when they come. It may not have been all, or even mostly, his fault but he used up a lot of credit last season.

He was certainly all of those things at 26 and before that he had it all but was raw ralent, you don't suddenly hit your peak and have good technique and pace, you hit your peak and if you're good enough, you find consistency and draw on experience.

He just needs to believe in himself now !
