If Kelly or Coates are deemed ready by our coaches then this could prove a wise move.

As ever it all depends on what we would do with the money. I'm not against selling Daniel Agger for a lot of cash, but I would miss him. Top player.

With no replacement in sight, selling Agger at this time would be a devastating blow to our season.

Modo - based on the link I posted earlier my mind is totally made up:-

We are talking £20M for a player who has in his LFC time been out for 24 MONTHS !!!! - He is nearing 28 years old, and I would say £20M for him is a damn good price if you consider the age at which Man United signed up Rio Ferdinand for £30M. This is a good deal, and I am confident that there are players who will be lined up to replace him. Either way given his injury record - we have to assume that we would be without him for 3+ months of the season anyway.

EVERYONE - CELEBRATE WE ARE GOING TO MAKE £20M FROM THIS SALE !!!!

We're losing one of our best players and we don't have a replacement.
We're two weeks away from the start of the season, I'm not celebrating shit.
People are going on about how Kelly or Coates might be replacing Agger but that isn't gonna happen, we all know who's gonna play and it's gonna be Carra.
24 months injured won't mean shit if he's fit for the next few years at Man C.

We really cannot push out top quality players who want to be here for the purpose of raising cash and then complain when other top quality players agitate for a move. Loyalty is a two way street.

There is sufficient evidence from the last X seasons he has been with us to suggest for Man City he will be out for 3 months every season. So I am not worried about that at all. As for replacements - I trust that the people in charge are looking very hard and will have someone by then anyway. There is nothing to worry about regarding this transfer (if it takes place). I don't think Brendan is stupid enough to assume Carra is going to fill that role for a whole season, and Coates and Kelly are not ready as everyone knows. So there will be a replacement in - and it does not necessarily have to be like for like with Agger, I suspect all Brendan will be looking for is a sense of awareneess and a ball player. Finding the replacement is their problem not ours - I remember Houllier bringing in Hypia, and Hencho, turned out ok - and since then I have never worried about the club getting defenders.

Posters seems more obsessed with money than anything else these days.

We shouldn't be looking to sell Agger. At all.

Cannot think for one moment that BR & his tippy tappy football will suit Mr Hoof.

When the Aquilani deal was still in the works, there was a rumour here in the UK (it never surfaced in Italy apparently) about Vargas coming here in part-ex.

rodgers wants to re-create barcelonas style. so he sells one of our three players who could get in the barcelona team.
This. Selling agger would be beyond stupid. He's our best ball playing CB and to say coates is a good replacement is rubbish. Coates is prone to many mistakes per match and gets caught out with a simple ball over the top. He's not even close to being as good as agger. I'd sooner sell skrtel. Skrtel would be easier to replace than agger. There are loads of skrtels out there, but not many ball playing CB's like agger.
