Agger don't don't don't

I don't think Rodgers expected the squad to fall apart like it potentially can.
As I see it Rodgers made the following players available:
Adam, Downing, Carroll, Aquilani and some obvious ones.
All of them are still here except the Italian.
Instead we're looking to lose players he was counting on. Agger, Skrtel and Bellamy.
I have a feeling that we're gonna let Bellamy go but keep Agger and Skrtel without them signing a new contract. We're gonna risk it, so that the team doesn't get more disjointed.

I think, sadly, that its just a matter of time before Agger is sold. Probably Barca as Agger has been very vocal about not joining another Premiership team. For 20-25 mill we would be mad not to consider it as he's 28 soon and injury prone as fuck.

I love him though and he's a great player, but getting in someone like Sakho for 10-12 mill and still have money left is a very good deal.

I agree with this theoretically, but given our recent transfer history, we'll probably replace him with Robert Huth.

It will be ok - we are going to replace him with another 28 year old named Ashley Williams from.....Swansea.

He's not really.

The first thing most managers do is sign players they've worked with before. It's a sure sign of averageness.

But Rafa correct me if I am wrong did bring in Luis Garcia - who he had worked with before (not from Valencia), and of course Pelligrino. Also Jose Mourinhio when he took over Chelsea - the first player on his list was Ricardo Carvaliho from Porto. So I don't think its a sign of averageness as you put it.

Rafa signed Garcia, Sissoko, Pelligrino and Aurelio...

(I feel a "rest my case" coming, though I don't think it's warranted)

I don't rate either of them as managers though. I think they just worked in the right circumstances.

it'd be alright if it was mourinho or pep but he's planning on buying half the fucking swansea team.

well if you want improve an 8th place team the surest thing to do is sign an 11th place team for more than they were assembled for.

Linked with someone in the Daily Mail and actually signing them is two different things.

So far we've signed Borini, with Allen probably coming in. There is no need to get your knickers in a twist just yet as they are both 2 very talented young players. I e We're not signing Monk and Dobbie.

i completely agree. swansea would have been top 4 last year if tehy had suarez, enrique and downing.

We have already become a selling club. Selling Agger doesn't make any difference. We've sold Alonso, Mascher, Torres, Arbeloa, Yossi and Meireles in last three years.
But if someone offers you a 20M of 28 year old player who has never managed to play a full season without injuries, it is a good offer and we should consider it.

But Mascherano, Torres, Meireles, Arbeloa and (at the end) Alonso all wanted to leave. Not sure about Yossi but my guess is that he wanted to stay. To sell players who wants to leave doesn't make us a selling club, it makes us a club with some integrity.

Sky Sports understands Liverpool are considering selling Manchester City target Daniel Agger to raise funds for other signings.
As revealed by skysports.com last week, City have seen two bids rebuffed by Liverpool for Denmark international Agger.
City are expected to come back with a third bid with Roberto Mancini keen to bring the central defender to the Etihad Stadium.
Barcelona are also thought to be watching Agger's situation at Anfield with talks over of a new deal at Liverpool seemingly coming to nothing.
Agger's future has been the subject of speculation for some time and rumours intensified after he was left out of the squad for last week's Europa League victory over FC Gomel.
Liverpool were hoping to keep hold of Agger, but it seems they could cash in on him if City up their bid to £20million, freeing up funds for Brendan Rodgers to strengthen the squad elsewhere.
Rodgers is already thought to be drawing up a list of defensive replacements for Agger should City meet their valuation for the 27-year-old.

yeah like selling players to fund other deals has worked well for us in the past .

With no replacement in sight, selling Agger at this time would be a devastating blow to our season.

It's no surprise at all. Left out of Europa game = stuff going on behind the scenes. Not exactly rocket science like. Still, centre backs are the easiest position to replace.
