Agger don't don't don't

I was having a discussion with a Ci fan over their bids for Agger. I said they could sod off and if they paid £24m for Lescott, they can pay more for Agger. Their response was that Lescott was better and Agger was just a good option as backup and wasn't worth anything near the money paid for Lescott.

I laughed for a bit before advising them they knew nowt about footy.

That's my biggest gripe about Man City now and their fans. They've had a sniff of success and suddenly consider themselves THE authority on footy.

i hate city fans just judging by their main forum. united fans seem to respect liverpool fans, at least the united fans on tinternet anyways, i remember a thread on blue moon about hillsborough, it was fucking appalling

I never have these discussions with other fans in real life.

Cuz everytime i do it, they start negotiating with me like i'm actually selling the cunt in question...

I didn't realise it until recently but City fans seem to hate us. Dunno why and I couldn't give a stuff about them, although i am increasingly thinking I would love it if they win fuck all this season, just to bring them back down to earth.

i prefer united fans to city fans, but i prefer city to united

Of course, I always preferred City over United, and had a bit of respect for them considering hat they've been through. However, now they can fuck off.

As for selling Agger, I wouldn't unless we were going to get top quality in, which is unlikely given we can't offer CL. However, if he wants out, I'd take £20m. He's had 1 good season. As has Skrtel. If we replace either of them with that Swansea player, I'd be pissed though. I'm starting to worry of how high we seem to be setting our transfer sights, if he's a genuine target.

If we got 20M + for Agger I'd sell.
He simply never stays fit long enough.
What'll you think if Agger goes on different training scheme to protect him from injury? Still sell him?

Your question is based on a hypothetical future where agger stays fit. Fact is, at the moment he is, and generally always has been, injury prone. That is somewhat unlikely to change. Not impossible, but unlikely. 20 mil plus and you'd have to look at the possibility of selling him.

But i don't think rodgers would want to sell a ball playing CB like agger anyway.

So has Gerrard, so we sell him as well?

Why the fuck should agger stay? We've signed borini. Hardly a statement of intent after years of not making the champions league.

Does Agger actually want to leave ? of all the transfer rumours related to our club this one confuses me more than anything. The player or agent has said something like they are not looking to move, yet offers keep coming in, and I read that he has given no indication of extending his contract. Then you have our manager heaping praise on the guy - so none of this really makes any sense to me regarding Agger.

I think for £20M - it maybe worth selling him because he does go injured quite a lot and we never seem to get the benefit of long term service from him.

Yep I would we have Coates coming through, Carragher getting the backing of the manager and Wilson and Kelly to come in if needed.
That's foolish. Carra's legendary history affords him one more season and probably not playing in every game. He'll be phased out. The other 3 aren't ready, especially Wilson.

I would have said that until I've seen how much Rogers rates Carra and a season is a long time to blood a CB. Look at Kelly he came on so much in 6 months last season.

20M for Agger? Yes please.
You are aware it's not you who'll get the money right?

Anyways I am all for not selling any of our most vital players. And Carroll.

Oh and to the posters saying that we should sell Agger as we've got Coates, Carra, Kelly and Wilson as backup, you'd not buy another CB? That's fucking bold if true.

If we sell one of Agger or Skrtel we simply would've got to buy a very shrewd replacement as we'd otherwise end up with a rather fragile looking backline.

An aging Carra, a very talented albeit still somewhat raw and untested Coates, a Kelly that despite his CB qualities has mainly played as a RB and a player who's not shown anywhere near the quality needed in Wilson. Never going to happen.

To those wanting to sell Agger whom have you got in mind to replace him?

Unless he himself were agitating for the move, I'd take one heck of a lot of persuading to let Agger go. Not only would he be hard to replace, I'd also be apprehensive about the message we'd be sending to current and future players (and indeed the game more widely) about becoming a selling club.
