TWO NEW FULL-BACKS!

I've read nothing about Manquillo that gives me any grounds for optimism.

He seems very, very unproven to be good enough for a first-team spot at Liverpool, but I hope he shows me what I'm missing.

I think it's unclear as to whether he's here to walk straight into the team. A two year loan suggests we're expecting to need some period of development, so I doubt he'll play straight away.

I'm guessing.... and it may be a stretch..... But our scouts may have taken the trouble to research this young left back more than a few u-tube videos readily available on the internet.

Stewart Downing's fake Aston Villa skills video impressed Liverpool's owners

Liverpool's American chairman Tom Werner first admired Stewart Downing after seeing this video of the winger kicking ball into bins at Aston Villa's training ground.

Werner and owner John W Henry were so impressed by YouTube clips of the England international slotting balls into five wheelie bins from long range that they decided to make an offer to Villa for the left-footed midfielder. They later found out the video was doctored.
"There was some footage of Stewart where he was, from 30 yards away, kicking a football into five different trash cans and it was brilliant," said Werner.
"John and I said: 'Oh my God, this player is brilliant, we've got to figure out a way to make a deal with him'."
It was only later that Werner and Henry realised the footage had been digitally enhanced as part of a campaign to boost season ticket sales at Villa.

Read that the Spanish based journos over here rate him as one of the next right backs for the National team.
2 year loan deal for a talent like that is a good move.

why the fuck have we got a two year loan for him then? it makes no sense and he's bound to be wank.

This years world cup aside, if he can wrestle that right back spot in the national team off Azpilicueta then we have ourselves a gem. I thought the chavski man was excellent last season in the league, albeit at left back.

I suspect we're getting Manquillo only because Rodgers wants two Spanish fullbacks lining up at the same time. He likes symmetry.

Arrrgh, I hate loan deals. Never work out. "In two years time you may buy him for 5 million. Unless he is good."

Andy Hunter explained it in the piece that he wrote... it's a two year loan where they can buy him back next summer or if they don't we can buy him after the loan is up.

So treat it like a one year loan where he may return to them after the season. If not, we have another year to decide whether or not we want to make it permanent.

Is he on, like, hire purchase?

We rent him for 2 years, then pay a lump some to own him outright or trade him in for a new model.

You can see why Rodgers likes him.
Young, quick, aggressive, attacking-minded footballer.
I think if he can solidly defend then the kid can be a star.

He's relatively good looking too, which is swell.

Markovic, Lovren, Manquillo, Lallana (to an extent), Can - WE'RE SIGNING HOT MEN!
