Trent turnaround

I'm thinking of the positions the others played in - i.e. the zone and coverage. Kinda highlight an issue in our central midfield/defence too, I guess?
Indeed. That was my first impression— none of our midfielders and defenders feature in that list at all almost as if they give up after possession is lost.

I'm still not entirely sold on him in midfield but I'm increasingly clear he shouldn't be at right back. So let's just give him a chance in midfield since it's where he mostly plays anyway.

At fault for the Jesus goal but beyond brilliant the rest of the match.

We force the opponent back. Play on the front foot. Players move and press well. Trent looks good. Which forum gobshite has been saying that’s what will happen? This one.

Trent's got too much talent to only be a threat when we're playing on the front foot. Id like to see him get a run out in midfield for a bit. What's the worst that can happen?

He absolutely needs to be moved to Right Midfield, no one is convincing me RB is his position long term, said it 6 months ago the guy does not want to be faced up in defensive situations….we saw that 30 seconds into the game when Martinelli breezed past him.

Everything good he does is in the attacking third of the pitch and everything bad comes when he’s asked to defend.

Small number of people have mentioned it for a couple of years now.

They have and I’m now fully onboard that idea.

I’m not 1 to say I was the first person that told you so, but taking in everything I’ve seen from him this season its very apparent now where his future lies in this team.

There's a lot of merit to this suggestion. I Frimpong, Ugarte, Bellingham and we'd have a very very solid team.

Klopp hasn’t changed to 4-4-2 when we were desperately short on midfielders yet people think he will do it all of a sudden? Not happening. We will stick with the same formation with Trent at right back. Just not your usual style right back.

You're probably right, despite Trent showing defensive frailties again yesterday . It doesn't have to be 4-4-2 it could be 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, I'd just like to see more bodies in MF which I believe could give us more control.

We do play 3-4-3 when we have the ball and pushing teams back. Robbo high left and Trent doing what he does best. Fabs drops towards the centre backs as the third defender.

If we play Trent in MF will that mean you finally shut up about signing 50 billion midfielders?
If Trent gets to MF, Klopp then only needs to sign 2-3 MFs, you'd still want a Kone/Ugarte/Thuram type at least alongside Jude. You'd then need a good RB.

what if we signed another left footed center back and switched to a back three?
dropped Robbo and moved Trent a bit upfield.

We'd lose a forward. Would you rather a 3-5-2? Because i'm not opposed to it

I am not sure. 3412 or something.

I think Robbo is not really doing enough going forward, and this way we also get more out of the aging VVD. Gakpo in the hole. Nunez up front with Salah.

Well - if we need 2-3 now, and playing Trent in MF means we’ll still need 2-3 plus a RB… maybe we should just buy 2-3 really good MF’s who can provide a bit of defensive cover to allow Trent to do what he does.

I wanted 3-4 MFs and if Trent goes in MF it goes down to 2-3 MFs. We are losing Naby, Ox, Melo and possibly Millie.

“Losing” three of those who contributed the square root of fuck all.
They need to be replaced no?Fab, Thiago and Hendo cannot be counted on. Spanish Steve looks promising, but his recent injury worries me. CJ isn't good enough. if we line up 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, we can ove Trent further up the pitch. If we play 4-4-2, get an orthodox RB who can defend and let Trent roam around the pitch.

We’re getting rid of those vampires. You can’t replace nothing. We are filling the void.

We'll buy a RB and play him in midfield just so he can drop back when Trent is in the opponents 6 yard box.
