Better than Coates?!!! Carra!!?? Let's leave sentiments out of this whole drama. This was somebody that gave Hulk the ball versus Zenit and jogged back after him and that's better?!! Yes Brendan said he wanted leaders allover the pitch and he also said the team's too quiet, that's why Carra played and that's why Coates didn't. A forward thinking Gaffer would have used Carra to bed Coates into the intricacies of the EPL. You can imagine what it will be like and you can imagine what the team has lost. All of that experience that Carra had is gone and the possibilities of Coates getting proper orientation is lost. Why weren't they paired together in some games? This is a defender that gives us a goal threat. Something which Carra didn't have. This is a quality that other topflight teams have that LFC doesn't have/are low at. Let the coach help him with the deficient areas of his game and see where it will land us.

Yes, Carragher fucked up against Hulk, one of the hottest strikers around. Coates fucked up against some bin man from Lancashire, or wherever.

I wouldn't argue the point as picking out one mistake isn't really a legitimate starting point for a debate (but on the subject it was a bad fuck up and not really a result of Hulk's excellence). Players make mistakes - Gerrard has made a few in his time and so have many other great players. It happens.

I didn't think Carra still had it in him to finish on a high as he looked completely finished before he got a run but credit to him, he pulled it together and made sure he went out on a high. I like that - in a way it kinda epitomizes Carra. He's been doing it against the odds the whole time.

Brendan quickly identified that Carroll and Adam weren't good enough and got rid. Cole was next to go. Later on it was Shelvey's turn. His record is pretty much impeccable, transfer-wise.

Brendan knows more about Coates than we do and if he deems that he's not good enough, then so be it.

Carra had a good spell towards the end of the 2005 season, but his poor passing and dribbling skills and the role he played in sacking Bentiez always meant he was never a *truly* PL quality centre half, for all that he tried to compensate with graft and self-improvement. Let's say that while Coates might be by far the more talented of the two, Carra certainly had more experience.
PA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Erm............................................this is supposed to be about that Belgian lad with the really shit hair that I have no idea if he is good enough for us or not.
