Toby Alderweireld

The guy seems to have signed for Norwich, Do we still need him on having signed Kolo Toure?
Was he ever top priority for our manager?

Does everyone here want this Alder guy because he's good or because he's Belgian?
Don't believe the hype.

I personally do not think we should sell Coates as our Manager has not given him a fair crack of the whip. That's why he was using geriatrics in place of Coates and Skrtel. This was done to undermine the man.

Why would Rodgers want to undermine him unless he wanted to get rid?

And why would he get rid if he thought he was any good?

Why play him against a team with a rough and tumble style in the F.A cup without an experienced defender like Carragher playing with him to guide him and help him bed in. Did he not play well against Fulham, we started with 3 central defenders at the back and switched to 2 and he played well. Next game he's on the bench. How does he get a fair run in the team and get to build up consistency? It's just sad that this is a guy with the potential to be a world beater but is being bugged down by our manager. Sad. My opinion.

Coates seems relatively slow of foot and brain .... it would take a quantum leap for him to become a World-Beater as you suggest. My opinion.

Rogers used Carra last season because he was simply better in almost every aspect of the game. Coates did nothing to earn a starting berth in place of Agger, Carra or even an off-form Skittles.

Is there any credible source that says we are interested in him. I presume we do not him as he is available now and surely Rodgers would have wanted him in time for the pre season tour? and would have thought the same applies to Eriksen.

Better than Coates?!!! Carra!!?? Let's leave sentiments out of this whole drama. This was somebody that gave Hulk the ball versus Zenit and jogged back after him and that's better?!! Yes Brendan said he wanted leaders allover the pitch and he also said the team's too quiet, that's why Carra played and that's why Coates didn't. A forward thinking Gaffer would have used Carra to bed Coates into the intricacies of the EPL. You can imagine what it will be like and you can imagine what the team has lost. All of that experience that Carra had is gone and the possibilities of Coates getting proper orientation is lost. Why weren't they paired together in some games? This is a defender that gives us a goal threat. Something which Carra didn't have. This is a quality that other topflight teams have that LFC doesn't have/are low at. Let the coach help him with the deficient areas of his game and see where it will land us.

I see the crack trade is still booming back home.

Geriatrics like Carra? Geriatrics like Carra who performed better than any of our CBs.

Yeah, I'm with you on that....

Who is this reincarnation of previous poster?

Ahhh Glock..... arrogantly oblivious to his own ignorance.... it was a skill almost.

Nah it's not him.

Kanwar maybe...

Years from now moving on a player who never lived up to the hype.

Just got round to the this "£4%%%78&*^.
Are you seeing the Carra that played for us last year or the one that played 4 years back?
Can we get real and stop the sentiments. Yes, he has served the club well in times past and but he had lost it before last season.

Hahahahaha!! Lost it before last season but played better than any other defender last season.

Chump.

Carra had a good spell towards the end of the 2005 season, but his poor passing and dribbling skills and the role he played in sacking Bentiez always meant he was never a *truly* PL quality centre half, for all that he tried to compensate with graft and self-improvement. Let's say that while Coates might be by far the more talented of the two, Carra certainly had more experience.

Thanks Peter Hague. Yours is one of the most intelligent I have read in this discourse. Will be looking forward to more posting from you. I just think things will be slightly difficult this new season if we do not move fast now as the supposed weaker teams have strengthened considerably and some of the points we got last year may be harder to come by. Southampton is a case in point. Norwich too. We can do better than we have done as quickly too.

Much as I respect some of your opinions I am going to listen to Franco Baresi over all of you. He thought Carra was boss.

Ridiculous.
