Thiago is dead (as player)

If I could have the ability of one player it would be one of; Alonso, Thiago, Pirlo and maybe even that ginger knob Scholes.
All had stunning technique, control and passing, but Thiago is the only one of those 4 that could legitimately dribble past 2 or 3 players on pure skill and body feints. He was also the best tackler/interceptor of the 4.

Just a shame he was made of glass, as he could have turned out to be a real legend. Especially in the season we almost won the quadruple. As ever, when we needed him most at the end of the season, he got injured.

...who obviously believes his own publicity. Müller-Wohlfahrt is a world-renowned sports medicine specialist whom Bayern immediately re-hired after Guardiola buggered off, and whom others from many countries have consulted. Some of his treatments have been controversial, but the thing is: they work. Reminds me of Hodgson ignoring our medical staff and training the Studge into another injury after calling him up for England. 😡

does he have being a top coach in him? seems to tick a lot of boxes

personally i loved thiago, really classy footballer who would’ve been fantastic for us if his body was up to the task. very frustrating for all that it wasn’t and very telling that he’s going for straight up retirement instead of hobbling around the saudi league for a few years.

Scholes is an outstanding player, but he is not in the same league as the other three, as much as the Manc-loving Sky Generation pundits would like to overrate him.

Gerrard was the better player for sure but there is something about that deep lying position I love. Breaking up play, spraying passes, assists, the odd goal (maybe from half way!). Gerrard tried it in his latter years but could barely walk so doesn't count.

He had the ability to do anything pretty much any player on the planet could do. Probably not the temperament.

That’s why all the who was better arguments are pointless. Gerrard could do what Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, etc do but none of those could do what Gerrard could do.

I reckon you're on to something with your point about coaching. There were numerous stories about Thiago's helpful influence in our squad and the respect everyone had for him within the club.

Thiago is like a wife who’d give you a proper good seeing to once a year on your birthday then leave you wanting more the other 364 days a year.

I always liked the idea of Thiago and in his brief cameos could see the possibilities. However like an attractive thought it never comes to reality.

Adiós Thiago, a great talented player and a seemingly good fella off the field unfortunately it seems he did it for Bayern and only showed up at Anfield, when the rest of Europe couldn't take him. Did Bayern fleece us? It seems they did. I have this feeling that he shall always put Bayern and other clubs in Europe ahead of Liverpool. both as a player and even in his new career as coach.. Was he retiring this year, if he had another season on his contract with us?. Difficult to tell. But when he was with us he gave his all just that we didn't have his all.

We paid about £20m no? So no they didn’t but Thiago got very well rewarded for his stay
