Sturridge only plays well when he feels like it, its quite annoying tbh.

That's hardly fair, have you seen his goals/assists since joining? He had a spell of a "few!" games where he was clearly struggling and below par, with suggestions he was having injections to play.

What do people really expect from players? How many are brilliant every single week? He's been a FANTASTIC signing so far.

When you see him play like that it's so mystifying that he was so shit in his previous 3 or 4 games.

Injuries don't really come into it, as it was more to do with his greediness and non-awareness in those games, plus of course the piss poor finishing (which can be attributed to injuries).
If he can play at that level every game he'll be a starter for the next 5 years. If he continues to be inconsistent then the search continues for another top striker.

Don't get me wrong, he's been great, I'm not denying that. However, like Junior said, it's strange how his level drops so much, he is a confidence player, he plays great when he's in the mood, when he's not though he's rubbish. I guess I'm just worried because he started off great at Chelsea and then he lost motivation and was rubbish. I don't want the same to happen here, keeping him motivated and eager is essential.

Do some people on here not know anything about the fucking game.
He is fucking great, he had an injury and needed time to get back.
I don't think Rodgers has managed his return at all well to be honest, which maybe went over some people's heads, he should have started yesterday , this obsession Rodgers had thing to turn young midfielders into false nines or at least hole players is fucking irritating.

regards

Quite right Vladders, all this lazy bollocks blaa blaa blaa has me tearing out what lttle hair I have left. I think Rogers wanted a three man midfield to even up the middle of the pitch but Coutinho had his worst game for us. I am looking forward to seeing what Sturridge can do now he will be getting a proper run in the team as the main striker.

Sturridge:
"I was disappointed not to start because the manager would have known I was a bit angry with Chelsea and wanted to prove a point against them," the striker said.

Then bloody hell, celebrate your goal against them; rub it into them. Make sure you do that next time.

12 games 6 goals
He's been a fantastic signing. 1 more league goal and he has the same amount as Carroll, only big Andy needed 44 games to achieve them.

Kiss of death - it will now take him another 32 games to get the elusive seventh.

What have you done???

Really really good footballer. Actually far better on the ball than I would have given him credit for before he signed.

Gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that he won't fulfill his potential as a footballer though. I think his attitude's questionable, as is his workrate, and I can see him finding excuses as often as the back of the net.

Hope I'm wrong though. He's quite clearly got all the talent in the world.

I'm inclined to agree. He's had a few shit games with us already. But I hope he can get past that. I also didn't think he'd be worth signing. Glad I was proved wrong though.

The way he has been fucked about by City and Chelsea, hardly playing and then when he did get a game out of position, may explain the perception of his attitude, if he had an "Inho" on the end of his name I wonder if he would have played alot more! Certainly he should have been Chelsea's no 1 this year, but just maybe Abramovitch's obssession with getting value from Torres has allowed us to pinch a gem, he cost the same as Borini ffs

Yup, that's my feeling too.

Hope I'm wrong, because he could be world class.

I'm guessing that's what ROdgers was alluding to when he was talking about a 'last chance' for Sturridge. It's not that he wouldn't be able to have a perfectly good career elsewhere, it's just his chance to get to that level at a big club may not happen again.

I love how direct he is, despite being impressed with just how good he is off the ball. I do agree though with earlier comments, I do think there might be that element of hot and cold with him, but alot of strikers are like that. When he's great he's unstoppable. Pace, power and lethal finishing, everything we've lacked in recent years.

If only he had a right foot that was more than just something to stand on. He had a few chances today where he was advancing on the central defenders from the edge of the box, with space to break to his right and shoot, but was forced to abandon the idea because he is so left-footed. Even his second goal, a tap in with his right foot, didn't look all that comfortable when you see it in slo-mo.

Daniel Sturridge has emphasised the importance of playing regular football after scoring twice in Liverpool's 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle United in the absence of Luis Suarez.

Liverpool striker Suarez's 10-match suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic against Chelsea last week is likely to hand Sturridge an extended run in the starting line-up.
The January signing from Chelsea repaid Brendan Rodgers' faith with a brace at St James' Park and he is keen to make the most of his opportunity.

"I wouldn't say with Luis being out that I'm delighted as he's a good player and it's unfortunate that he's got a lengthy ban," Sturridge told ESPN.

"But it's good for myself that I'm able to get some games as I didn't come to Liverpool to sit on the bench. For me, it's important to be playing and that's what I want to do."

Regarding a turbulent week for Liverpool, Sturridge commented: "The manager emphasised that we've got to be a team and stick together, and that's what we've done.

"We've gone on the field and worked as a unit. It's been a difficult week, but we've come out to do a job and that's what we've done today."
