I do think Suarez offers a lot more in terms of dropping deep, demanding the ball, and creating. Something Torres never did not just because of his perceived lack of drive or motivation but also IMO because of a lack of ability.

I completely disagree with this.
When Torres was at Atlético he regularly played on the wing, when he plays for Spain he often plays as a support striker.
He played up front by himself when he was at Liverpool because Rafa wanted him to, not because he couldn't play anywhere else and definitely not because he lacked ability.

Yeah but torres wasn't exactly special when he played on the wing (or left/right of a front 3 i think it was) for them . Plus he sometimes looks a bit out of place in the Spain team , unbalancing it a little. I mean even after his amazing first season was us he was pretty poor at Euro 2008 until Villa got injured and he got more space as a lone striker .
Don't get me , he's a top , top striker but I think it's fair to say he's not an all round footballer to the same degree that Suarez is . Also when Torres is off form he can look really , really poor at even the basics ...it remains to be seen but I think Suarez will still add to the team play on his off days . Basically they are 2 different types of strikers , Torres the out and out with Suarez the all rounder , creator , scorer (maybe not 30+ goals in Prem but still good figures) .
Anyway Torres is gone , fuck him , It's just great to have someone who looks a proper player , skill , pace , trickery , the lot . Long may it continue.
