Who needs a new CB?

This guy is a beast.

He won almost every challenge today, never got caught napping and his passes was impectible.

I can't see Agger getting back in while he stays fit.

What a performance for his first game back in the side

I loves him
I think he misplaced 1 pass the entire game from the back and almost always looked to play the ball forward alond the deck, even running out with the ball when there wasn't an out ball on.

He does what Agger is supposed to be good at without all the fuss.

his passing style is strange, he looks Djimi Traore awkward and it always seems that he doesn't put enough on the ball . But they get there and he doesn't give the ball away so it's all good in the end .

I'm just surprised a thread wasn't started on him by Modo tbh. It was HIS fault for the goal we conceded. He looked extremely uncomfortable on the ball, and was unable to pass comfortably and we needed to bring on Kolo to ensure we'd hold on to the 2-1 win. Very disappointed with him. Terrible buy.

Sakho had a very good game today and deserves whatever praise he's getting.
Made it tough for Nolan and Carroll and looked calm and in control when on the ball.

It looks strange, could be his height though but he got it right and in the end it's what matters.

Yeah Agger should have played.

Yeah Agger should have played.

Rodgers has not dropped After this season yet has he? If Agger has any qualms about playing less games then he should look at himself for getting injured as many times. Every time he got injured Sakho has stepped in and performed well making it hard to drop him.

Its a good situation. Any player who has a problem with this can fuck off. If he makes a mistake there is more than a few regular respected posters on here who are ready to shaft him in the back.

But I don't subscribe to the Agger is a poor defender hyperbole that's been prevalent on this forum a lot lately. Yeah he got shown up that time by Drogba and then made a school boy error against Campbell, but some make him out to be a worse defender than Flanagan who has been run past more than any other player in this league in his 18 starts.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Flanagan and he brings more than all our available options at left back, but he has a lot of improving to do.

I like him, and would happily see him start ahead of Agger every day of the fucking week but those passing stats are a bit disingenuous.

West Ham set up to allow him and Skrtel possession, and purposely never pressed them once so they could keep the tight midfield 5. So of course he was going to look comfortable and be allowed to knock it to Gerrard all day long.

Agger has technically been dropped by Rodgers this season after he got injured. I mean, he didn't get back into the side until Sakho got injured.
The big question is, will Agger start against City or will Rodgers stick with Sakho?

It's a toss up imo, I mean we need someone to handle Dzeko, but Pelligrini could reintroduce Aguero.

Very composed in his passing.

Early on he won a fifty fifty challenge that I thought he was going to lose, or foul the player.

Did very well against what is most likely the toughest opponent he will come up against in terms of strength & power.

And as stated above, his distribution was spot on today.

It's superb having players like Alan & Sakho - who in recent times have been on the bench, but when called upon they deliver the goods.

Ditto all the above.

He's going to be fantastic for us. I wish him all the luck in the world.

I wonder if this is why DHL left (sad miss) - he saw this coming 😉

He has an unorthodox technique but his distribution has always been of a high standard like we saw today, thought he did struggle a bit with Carroll in the first half in the air but theres not a defender around that wouldn't have some trouble dealing with that tbh, overall a good solid game from him, got no worries about him, he will be quality for Liverpool in the years ahead.

I haven't seen the stats but my own eyes are all the evidence I need. However he didn't just knock it to Gerrard all day long as you well know, he made a number of sorties forward moving into MF and passing to players up front, as well as numerous (20-25m) passes through the centre of the midfield. I think one pass went astray and he missed one header (completely !), it was an excellent performance but if that missed header had led to a goal there would be all hell to pay on here. B+

He's got legs like our Bambi had .... just when you think he's coming up short they stretch another 6 inches !

His passing stats yesterday isnt something new.
He's got the best completion stat in the squad.

Who cares if he "looks" gangley or whatever, the passes hit their man and he's a beast.

Should be starting each game now.

Played great yesterday, good to know if Sakho plays badly, Agger will be there and visa versa.

I like him, I've not lost this niggling feeling that he's never a touch away from a mistake.

Saying that, I feel similarly about the other cb's.
