Pre Match - Arsenal

PGMOL closed ranks saying his hand was going towards not away from his body. Hence it wasn't a penalty.

I guess I need to go to specsavers. I saw the opposite.

Fuck it.

We'd be 5 points better off if we didn't get shafted in the Spurs game and this one.

Trent should have scored, it did sit up a bit but there was no need to try smashing it in.

Anyway, there's enough fuel in that for Klopp to fire everyone up and stay in this until Arsenal shit the bed.

Oh I'm not happy! Who is remiss in starting the Burnley match thread? @Brizzle Is that you? Have you been at the Xmas brandy early? Are you lying in a drunken stupour somewhere? Are we to rely (and regret) on Dreamy?!

The title is still in our hands, we played very well yesterday against a team set up well to nullify our threats and disrupt our game.

We were like deers in the headlights in the first 10 mins, possibly not expecting them to press us so much. This led to the free kick they scored from.

Howecer from minute 20-90 i felt we were in full control. We had enough chances to win if without the penalty shout but that was frankly a disgrace.

We need to find our clinical edge as we can’t keep relying on City & Arsenal to drop points. We need to go on a run, which looks more difficult if Diaz is out just before Mo heads to AFCON.

We should be top by 3 points, but we have an opportunity for this to still be a period that galvanises the squad.

I need to stop watching the Trent miss.

Cunt scooped the ball to his foot. Whatever way it was, it was an intentional action.

And since when did it matter if you were trying to move your hand towards yourself?? They just adding new factors to consider for handball??

While I agree with the sentiment saying the title is still in our hands with 20 games to go is daft.

It think it’s logical. If we were 4 points behind Arsenal we couldn’t say that. Just means we still just focus on ourselves.

It seems to depend who the offending team is and which team should be awarded the pen.

Ya but it completely illogical. If we were 15 points maybe. Arsenal haven’t played half their games and have dropped 14pts. It would still be in our hands even if they beat us and we lost last week too.
The whole it’s still in our hands only comes into play for me when we have a number of games left that we can plausibly win in a row including a game to overtake whoever is in front of us by beating them. We are all going to drop points but history tells us City will drop the least when the chips are down.

I'm biased because Saliba is a Maltese surname so he's obv.connected with the (quite large) Maltese community in France, but he deserves the plaudits he's getting. I was quietly hoping we might go in for him before the Arse made their move.

I'm not automatically biased BTW. Darmanin is also a Maltese surname and I despise the French Interior Minister as much as anyone after the CL Final fiasco in Paris.

Yes I was hoping that Arsenal were going to let him go. He almost did leave.

Yeah but what do you think about Tony Drago, the fat Maltese snooker player?

Honestly, if we need a fucking dubious pen in order to beat Arsenal, we don't belong in the title race. Mane, Firmino and younger Salah would have won yesterday's game by at least 3.
It's pretty obvious what the issue is, we haven't managed to replace Mané and Firmino.

...yet, but I still make us ahead of schedule, given the extent and the lateness of the rebuild we ended up having to make.

I think I need to lower my expectations.
League cup and a CL spot will suffice I guess.

These matches are usually decided on fine enough margins. Arsenal, us and City are not going to win decisively against each other given we’re all strong sides. If you can’t acknowledge the positives in that we played well, controlled large parts of the game and were bizarrely denied a pretty stonewall pen (that even Saliba stated was a pen without any ambivalence post match)…then I’m pretty much lost for words.

We’re in the title race and deserved the win yesterday.

Bobby is available in the transfer window appaz 😉

We completely revamped our midfield over summer and many doom mongers on here were predicting the end of the world. Sensible heads were satisfied with how things turned out and set the goal for a transformation season as CL qualification and good runs in the cups.

So far, so good.
