Pre Match Pre Match - Everton (A) - Weds 19:30

It is a bit mad after taking Grav off for an extra attacking presence he didn't stick Endo on when we got the goal.

Robbo was terrible while he was on the pitch. How many times did Gakpo even see the ball? Everything went down the right and it only worked when Salah dropped back cos Szob was shit all night.

Grav had one of his worst games this season and I get why he was hooked, and it worked. We should have won from there, Endo or not. But we didn't match their midfield, fuck all this referee shit, the midfield let us down twice as much as the officials.

I'm only leaving Mac out because of that header but other than that he wasn't very good either.

i thought macca did alright overall, but he was sloppy in the tackle. Szob was good when it came to challenging shoulder to shoulder, but any 50/50 he shit out of. Grav i didn't notice at all.

you are right though. We didn't do enough to win, even with the shit refereeing. Slot needs to get the house in order

Interesting take from the Guardian this morning...

There were two VAR reviews after Tarkowski lashed Tim Iroegbunam’s flick-on into the roof of Alisson’s net, one for offside and another for a push by Beto on Ibrahima Konaté. When both were cleared – the referee, Michael Oliver, might have feared for his safety had they ruled against Everton – the final whistle sounded almost immediately...

Probably bollocks but funny if true...

And now Jeremy Freeman, an expert lip reader, has told Sport Bible what he believes Slot said to Oliver to be shown the red card.

“That’s not a push? It’s a f**king disgrace… if you go and watch that again,” Slot exclaimed.

To the other linesman, he sarcastically said: “Well done.”

Just before shaking hands with Oliver, again, sarcastically, he said: “Great game.”

After the red card, the Liverpool boss added: “Sure, you give me a red for that? I will check it out for later… me and you yeah? Sure give me a red card… we’ll talk after?”

Macca
Salah
TAA - I was apprehensive when he came on TBH but thought he actually did OK.
He really did, and it just goes to highlight how good it is to have both options in TAA and Bradley. Bradley did ok but I'd said pre game that I feared the occasion would get to him and he would have a rash challenge in him. I think they targeted him quite a bit. Trent was calm and composed with the ball at his feet and looked a different class whenever he had the opportunity to create an opening.

Great. First act a prick and then play the racist card.

I demand an investigation - Doucoure only provoked our fans because they're mostly white, the racist fuck.

They have form for it. Holgate pushing Bobby Firmino into the advertising hoardings and then accusing him of a racist comment comes to mind.

Both things aren't mutually exclusive.
He was a prick but doesn't mean he deserves racist abuse if he did get any, any fans that resorted to that aren't fans of us. Let's not go down that road especially as club has been quick to condemn and police are investigating it now.

When the football staff told Bobby that Holgate had alleged he called him the N word he apparently was totally confused, before eventually asking what it meant. Not only did he not say it, he didn't even know the word.
And I do remember the TV footage at the time showed that he was speaking Portuguese (I could specifically make out "Estais loco, filho da puta..." before his mouth was obscured by another player's head in the foreground (have just checked the footage - it was Jonjo Kenny who got in the way). For non-Portuguese speakers, "You are mad you ... son of a bitch". But in fairness, if he was going to use a word to reference Holgate's race, it would have been at the point where his mouth was obscured.
But he said it right in front of the ref who was mic'ed up. If he had used racist language, it would have been on the match audio.
I was told at the time that the club had not been presented with any evidence, other than Holgate's word, that racist abuse had taken place, but Bobby was literally a stone's throw from a length ban because Kick it Out were accusing the Premier League of being soft on racism if they didn't ban him.
Saying all that, if any of our away fans have racially abused Doucoure then they can get to fuck. Just call him a cunt. And if that is what happened, Doucoure should have told the ref, not goaded the fans. Moral high ground and all that.

I'm echoing somebody's comments from earlier here, but I'm amazed more of us aren't going ballistic about how Oliver blatantly stole that win from us. Too much use of the word 'deserve' in the past 10 pages (and mostly incorrectly, IMHO)... We didn't do enough to win? We didn't deserve to win? We got what we deserved? Seriously..?!?!

Had Oliver done his job even just competently (never mind performing well), and just blown the fucking thing up on time, we'd have won 2-1, regardless of performance. Had he and his VAR mate not completely bottled ruling out that 2nd goal for the clear shove on Ibou, as he attempted to clear the ball, we'd have won 2-1, regardless of performance. Had he not given them five phantom fouls, where their players weren't even touched - yes, FIVE! - we'd have won 2-1 or 2-0, regardless of performance. Had he simply awarded the obviously foul on Mo, deep into injury time, we'd likely have won 2-1, regardless of performance. And I'm not even mentioning how Bradley shouldn't have been booked at all, while their lad Gana (I think) should have gotten a second yellow for the drag back...

It was a fucking diabolical performance from that worthless cunt last ight. Again. So, everybody saying "we didn't do enough to win that match" is wrong... We did. We had it won, and that crooked shitehawk with the whistle fucked us. Again. Again. The end.

It was a total shitty performance by LFC team and manager, I will only give credit to Konate MOM and a bit for Jones, the rest of the players were very bad. This LFC team can't withstand physical games, the like of N. Forest, and Everton, I expect Everton will do the same in home game!!
Slot got it wrong by playing Diaz in No.9 position. Everton got a Licence from the referee to kick our players all over the pitch from the first minute! He has added 3 extra minutes. Everton second goal should not stand! As for our team performance, I now am having a doubt if they would finish top of the league! Many tough games are coming up, and we might lose the 7 points in hand! Villa game will be hard, and the rest! LFC do not have a strong squad at present. The club owner, is just milking the club for his sport in the USA!. We might need a miracle to win the league! I hope I am wrong! We need a lot of luck!

Maybe VAR would work better if there was no direct communication with the ref and, ideally, they didn't even know each other. Have professional refs from some other equivalent league do it.

I've never understood why the ref on the pitch needs to have any input whatsoever once the thing goes for review. Seems like he could only corrupt the process, never improve it. Instead we get ridiculous nonsense like sending him over to the monitor in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans.

It’s a good start that the people working together in what’s supposed to be a professional environment don’t call each other nicknames and mate.

The Konate foul is bugging me the more I see it. 100% that’s a free kick if Darwin does that to Tarkowski in their penalty area.

I've said from almost day one that VAR officials shouldn't even be from the same country... No existing relationships would be strained by the VAR doing their job correctly in that case.

By their own rules, the FA have three working days including today (Thursday, Friday, Monday) to review the referee's report and any video footage before charging Slot which means he'll be in the technical area for the Wolves game.

Liverpool then have three working days to respond to the charge (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) if they wish to contest the charge, so he would also be available for the Aston Villa game.

If Liverpool wish to contest the charge then there are a further three working days (Friday, Monday, Tuesday) for the FA to respond and establish a hearing date which would be a few weeks later. That delay would make Slot available for both the Man City and Newcastle fixtures.

Why Arne Slot could still be on touchline for Liverpool vs Wolves despite red card

🤔 The Premier League initially stated that Arne Slot looked set to be hit with a two-match ban.

I wonder if Doucoure would have been given offside if the semi automated system had been in use. It looked very tight.
