Pre Match Pre Match - PSG (A) - Weds 20:00

It's worth mentioning that PSG were knackered in the end just like we were. So I'd expect our subs to come in and play well.
Oh change the record. If they didn't make a difference you'd complain, now because Jones and Elliott make a difference it's because PSG were tired. Seriously, give it up and just be happy with the win.

Hoping for a better performance and the Anfield crowd to carry us through. Short of that another smash and grab will do just fine.

Generally speaking though, we have one too many weak links in the side at the moment. I don't think you can afford to vacate the midfield in order to double up on attackers or to have nothing going on up front to relieve the pressure / give the opposition a reason to drop back.

Work to do in the summer.
Yeah a lot of of work to do in summer (specifically replacing TAA and Robbo, possibly Salah too).

The way I look at it, there a four 1v1 battles in wide areas (2 for their team, and 2 for ours), and in that first half we lost every single one of them.

In the 2nd leg, we need to at least win 2 of those 4 battles.

Surely it can't be as bad as today.

But they were tired...
Our players came on and had more energy

Is it too much to say our keeper won us that game and their keeper lost it for theirs? The more I watch our goal the more I think it should be saved?
I fucking hate that prick. I wish it was me that kicked him in the face instead of that Monaco forward.

Before I write what I think about the game I want to say how much of a disgrace TNT were tonight. Crying for what seems like hours over Konate red card and not realising it can only be a red had the ref gave a foul.

Okay, to the game. Let’s take the emotion out of it.

Right up to Diaz’s hospital pass, it was even. That incident got their tails up and up to about 37 minutes it was all them. Somehow Jota started getting the ball to stick and won some free kicks and got by some players. Second half they were down to shots from distance. Great telly saves from Ali but you’d expect him to make them.

From about the 60th we started to get those gaps between the lines and then made the subs. All of them made a difference. We found the gaps and made some mad choices or passes like Mo and Nunez messing them up.

Then the goal. Did it. Lovely. Then that was followed up with our Ninja cutting out a late attack by them.

I still want Nunez sold, but he came on and made a positive impact, as he should.

Sure they were tired, but so was our defence, and he made more of an impact that their subs.

He done so many things we usually critique him for:

1) Got back onside from the long ball
2) Fought hard and won the ball/second ball
3) Actually controlled the ball
4) Instead of have a brainless blocked shot, got his head up and saw Harvey
5) Played a perfectly weighted ball into his run and not behind him

Usually Nunez would fuck up in any of 1 of these 5 areas. But today he delivered.

They all played well and yes, they made more impact than their subs.
