Pre Match Pre Match - Forest (A) - Tues 20:00

I didn't understand what Slot was trying to do in the first half. It wasn't so much that their CBs were great in the first half but that we emptied ourselves from their penalty area, and resorted to hopeful long shots. I know much of the criticism is directed at Diaz, but his meandering runs seemed intended to draw the Forest CBs out of position except they rarely took the bait and when Murillo did, we didn't have the runners from midfield or wings to exploit what little gaps they left behind.

It could have been worse… I had to change a shitty nappy during the 2nd half.

After a strong beginning the sloppy mistakes are creeping back. I completely get Fabio’s frustration. You didn’t need to be Mystic Meg to know they were scoring first and the goal was going to look exactly like that. Who knows how many videos they watched this week talking about exactly that type of goal. Konate roamed but where was Trent, absolutely in no mans land. We don’t concede that goal with Bradley on. And the less said about Robbo the better. Been an incredible servant but that’s it now.

Thought Macca had one of his worst games for a while, and Szobo needs to be braver. The standout however was completely lacking a striker.

The way this club has been run is criminal. They barely backed the best manager we’ve had in decades, and I’m seeing more of the same now. If we don’t go and make some/any signings this January BIG questions need to be asked. The best and most successful clubs are ruthless. The Nunez experiment is over, the Diaz comb over isn’t hiding anything. I get Slot possibly wanted time to see what he had, but there’s no possible way he doesn’t know what he has now…

City are spending again, Arsenal are spending again. Back him and who knows what is achievable this season. But the owners aren’t in it for the glory. Probably looking for a new back stop.

Just to sum up what I am reading in here and other threads:

Our keeper is worse than our second choice.
Both are first choice full backs are shot, we need to get rid ASAP
All our CBs, apart from Virgil, are unreliable.
Gravy is brilliant, but clearly overplayed and is likely to drop dead in the next month or so
Szoboslai has had 3 good games in the last 18 months
Jones is erratic and holds onto the ball too long
Elliot is clearly not in Slot's plans
Diaz has gone back to being shit, especially when playing through the middle
Nunez is Nunez
Jota is injury prone
Salah had a good first half of the season, now he is crap again
Cheesie is Italian

Also Hughes is a preening prick who sleeps on the job and our owners are lizards.

Nicely summed up there. Only missing Danns.

Oh and Cheesies missus doesn't pass the Athens test

We need to discuss our wastefulness with the ball somewhere. This isn’t new this season, but to me our players go into every game thinking “we’ll get 20 chances today” and then half ass the shots or situations we get into.

We lash at shots, or they get floated at the keeper. We miss key passes and rush moves.

This isn’t just composure, although it is a significant lack of it. I think it’s an arrogance we need to remove. The players think we’re so good that we don’t need to approach chance like it’s the last one we might get.

Look at the goals we concede and it’s the opposite. Players treat it like they will get one chance in a game and they are accurate and powerful shots, and clever moves that open up space.

We can keep hoping that we will score just by statistical probability of a high volume of shots. We need to be drilling into the players that conversion simply needs to be much better.

It’s a mentality thing for me. We need to fix it.

We need a finisher with 30%+ coversion. We need a mobile 9 who can finish, one who runs himself in to the ground and has a bit of presence about himself

I don't know why slot hates danns

You forgot that Richard Hughes IS A LAZY CUNT!!!!

We were lucky to take 1 point from that game, because the performance was so lousy, awful passing, bad ball control, wasteful finishing, the team is in dip form at present, and it has been since 2-2 draw with M. United game! It is vital to buy another striker (Finisher) perhaps, give Danns a run in the first team! Nico Williams had the pathetic Salah in his pocket the whole game, However, the clever Kloop got rid of him (He is top full back Left & Right)!!
We also need another central back, and another midfielder.
Tough games are coming up in the weeks thick and fast, and we need to strengthen the squad urgently.

Which of those things is not true, though?

I think there is too much hope in Harvey coming on and doing the business for us. If you are Slot - you will look at the externals of the player's abilities which by all accounts are actually limited in terms of physicality, speed, and dribbling ability. Yes he has a sharp mind - but in such a physical league he has a distinct disadvantage, and therefore in Slot's eyes he can be a liability more than a sub that will change the nature of the game.

Also yesterday's game kind of reminded me of our last CL Final against Real Madrid, where we had quite a few shots at the goal and nothing went in due to worldly saves from their goalkeeper and very good defending by the opposition to block our shots.

I was very impressed by Slot when he took off Konate and just had Virgil as the single defender, and he made the right subs - I mean has anyone seen two subs on and have an impact in 22 seconds ? - highly doubt that.

I'm sick of so many players giving it away under zero pressure. Main culprits last night were TAA, Mac, Szob and Diaz but everything was rushed from the first minute. Even when we've drawn a few lately they've stuck to the plan, but didn't last night. I would have got Harvey on for half an hour at least.

That said forest are winning all their games conceding hardly any goals so in isolation this isn't a bad result. It's just that it isn't in isolation. Think we'll sort it out. Slot won't be happy and he'll know what to tweak.

That Yates kid is a dirty annoying bastard but I'd want him in my team. They can play a bit, defend great and get stuck in. Was surprised by how good they are. No wonder they've won seven on the bounce conceding nowt.

Yeah, our passing in the final third was abysmal last night. But looking at the game as a whole, we were unlucky not to win it against a side that has been watertight lately (5 consecutive clean sheets before last night). That says a lot. We were poor until the subs, and yet we were still, on balance, better than the team top of the form league and in 2nd place in the league, away from home. We're going through a sub-par spell, but it's fine margins between the results we're getting and the results we want. It's a dip, not a slump. But it also perhaps shows us where Mo's moments of brilliance have been decisive in past games, where he hasn't really looked at it for the last few weeks.
I do think this is where a new arrival is needed though. Regardless of weak areas in the team, a new playmate just gives the place a lift.
