It is getting increasingly difficult for me to pick and promote only one or two young Danish youngsters these days as there's an influx of talent over here right now. But I have found a real gem for you in 19-year-old Mikkel Damsgaard whom I have generously dubbed the Mini Gini, because Wijnaldum is the player he probably resembles the most.
A central midfielder that oozes creative talent, vision and intelligence and with a wonderful shot in him too. Quick feet and decent paced, but his stand-out quality is his ability on the ball combined with his cleverness. Amazing range of passes too.
He is however extremely light-weight and he really needs to gain physcial strength if he ever were to set the Premiership on fire but that's often the easiest aspect of a players qualitites to improve upon.
Playing for the notorius talent-machine FC Nordsjaelland makes him a rather well-known talent already among the top clubs scouts and he's also a vital part of the Danish U21 team that is well on course to secure yet another U21 Euro ticket.
