Other forum meltdown watch 24/25

I must say, it would be a touch risky signing for a team with 115 charges hanging over it. Sign to be challenging for the Prem and you end up competing in the Vanarama National league (formerly known as the Vauxhall conference).
We can only hope and pray.

I’m hoping this is a good ‘un. I’m giving up Red Dead Redemption 2 for you cunts. I have opened Northern Monk IPA 6.5%. Let’s fucking go to the fume. Their post Match thread first.

Pathetic 2nd half performance.

With the injuries the team just isn't good enough. We don't have the physicality or the legs this season, we're getting outrun and outfought in every game.

Midfield without Rodri simply isn't good enough. Don't care how well any of them plays in moments, the last 2 transfer windows haven't been good enough.

Glad there's an international break so I can just switch off from football.
Not pulling any punches today that was fucking DIABOLICAL, wow.
The harsh truth is that Pep is more concerned about his net spend and how it looks upon his legacy than the quality of our current squad. I know that will be controversial, but surely this won’t: he’ll leave the club in far worse shape for the next manager than he found it. I refuse to believe he could watch Cole Palmer in our matches/training, day in and day out, and say,’ yeah, he CAN’T go on loan. He either stays or is sold.’ while having the CLUB’s interest at heart.

As I said before, a downturn was expected, but the squad planning has been awful, and if it solely has to do with the charges against us, then fair enough.
Well I saw the team and put my entire Paddy Power balance on Brighton at 3/1. Absolutely no worries even when we were winning. We are that punch drunk boxer and simply cannot cut it any more. Walker, KDB, Gundogan, Grealish and Foden are all drawing wages under false pretences. For me there's no changing it, the players are old, injury prone or overated. It's been a good ride, but we've done exactly what United did before us, we failed to renew and refresh. For me, Pep needs to make a decision. He's either going to be the man, or he needs to go!
I’m absolutely fuming. Another fucking pathetic performance. I’m not buying this tiredness jab is a cop out. A sub par transfer window has fucked us. The contract situation needs sorting before December because this team has run its course.
Winning 1-0, bring on Bernardo who’s been poor all season and De Bruyne who looks absolutely finished and we lose. Cowardly subs because he won’t trust any of the younger players
Deputy Dawg-Shit.
We got what we deserved. Too many players don't care any more. It doesn't matter at the end of the season what we achieve if the mentality wasn't right. The international break couldn't come any faster
Not an overreaction but walker is done, not had a good game for 12 months.
Apart from maybe Ederson... Every single one of those cunts should be utterly ashamed of their second half performance
Awful performances ever since Rodri got injured. It's like everything has just been drained out of us.

We need a major boost from somewhere.
Be lucky if we make top 4. Worst I've seen us for years
If we don’t get this sorted Haaland will be gone in the summer as this is not getting better this season .
Bottlers?

KDB doesn’t look arsed.

There’s a reason Pep benched Walker during the treble season.
Sometimes you need a slap in the face to get a reality check!!

No one can deny we need a midfield overhaul!

It's not an overreaction to say some players are over the hill. And f those Stones late 2nd half goals didn't paper over the cracks.. we'd be in a lot worse position!

Thankfully it's early in the season!
Gundo is nowhere near the player he was....
Nunez is not good enough for City
I am sick of fans singing Rico Rico...he is young and is struggling at the moment.
What a pathetic soulless 2nd half performance !
Blow it the fuck up
Peps transformation into Alan Ball is complete
Well who saw that coming... dog shit YET AGAIN. These second half performances are genuinely pathetic but the worst part today is nobody bar haaland even looked arsed. Huge changes are needed. Returning players will help but this style of play is shit
Lack of effort, desire or spirit in this current team is severely lacking.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. We are currently just very very boring. I dont care if we lose as long we actually try and it's an entertaining game but the passing sideways and backwards just isn't enjoyable. Add in not grinding out a result is a bit stinky.
Garbage 2nd half again.

Figure it out Pep.

The excuse of they are tired is not good enough.
Only fight was from Haaland.

Pathetic slow laboured lethargic team.

All those players should be ashamed.

Time we started to build again starting January.

What a fucking joke some of the players have become. Totally unacceptable.

We are all grateful of the 4 in a row and the treble but now we need huge changes and some serious investment.

This 115 bollox has taken its toll.

Pep has huge work to do to get a functioning team who can last more than 35 min
klanfield is gonna be a blood bath based on this
We're done after 35 minutes. You can see the team fade and lose control.
it’s baffling since the trademark of this team has been its grit, character and backbone. Now we are soft. Have the mentality of the French army circa 1940.

Pep has to decide does he want to retool the team/squad or finish up the season with love and respect and say thanks for the memories..
Diabolical. Big Big problems. Something deeper going on. So many shit team and individual performances, unexplained injuries / absenses.
Peps gone, I'm fucking sad about it but he's gone, he's lost his head at the end there but a lot of this is on him not adapting how we play unfortunately and he won't accept it for whatever reason which is quite a sad way of the journey ending.
An absolute shit show of a 2nd half, fuckin disgrace, we’re so easy to play through it’s embarrassing
What Pep is doing to prepare the team for the second half? It's time for a big change. Sorry but Pep can not continue depending on Players whome they don't care, dead, toothless
Sporting & Brighton were shit yet beat us :-(
Problem is injuries won't ease soon and win doesn't look coming either
Does anyone have a single fucking clue what's going on?

I feel like I've been teleported back to the bad old days.
Score a goal by geting up top quick?

Spend the rest of the game pissing around with it.

No fight. No passion. No ideas. No shape.
What a pile of donkey spunk.
Rodri out and the three central defenders out behind him equals teams waltzing through the middle of our defence.
Plus Nunes is Nasri - you keep thinking there's a good player in there but it never happens.
Arrogance personified, Pep looks absolutely shell shocked
Another one on Pep for me getting his changes wrong, before I get bummed I know injuries aren’t helping but he took away our outlet bringing savio off and we just sat back and invited them on, not sure what he’s saying at half time either. Thinks he’s running out of ideas to change what he’s being left with after shit transfer windows, he won’t be here next season for me
Same old story

Game should be over by half time. You know exactly what's coming

How have a club with our resources and pull been left with a bunch of unfit geriatrics who can't last more than 45 minutes

Appalling management and forward planning
We’ll concede at least 4 at Anfield. It’s going to get worse yet.
Just what the fuck is going on in that changing room at half time, has Pep nodded off and it's been left to the invisible man Lillo to work his magic. It's an absolute mess this current team nobody is playing well and u honestly don't know where our next win is coming from, Spurs and Liverpool the next two league games. Liverpool could have the league sewn up in a few weeks time
It shouldn't, it really shouldn't. It's only a game, after all. And you see what's going on in the Ukraine, and Gaza, and the devastation in Spain in the last week. Plus, I'm old enough to know better.

But fuck me, it doesn't half turn the weekend to shit when we lose.
I got a slight feeling that this injury crisis is being blown out of proportion.

The simple fact is that our midfielders cannot do what Pep wants without Rodri. They don’t create anything and they don’t offer stability to the back four.

The fact Stones and Gvardiol are our biggest goal threat after Haaland says it all.

The writing was on the wall last season about the way we play without Rodri and we failed to address it. In fact, we went into this season with a weaker squad than last season.
It's too early to say our glory era is over but it's looking more and more likely that a huge rebuild is going to be needed.
I know we have got through some bad spells before, but there is no coming back from this one. This team is on life support.
So many thing wrong that I just dont see them being fixed.
Defensive shambles. Midfield control. Creativity. Finishing. All non existent at the moment.
Can't expect to do as well when we've signed substandard players to replace those who left and also not get a player to rotate with Rodri.

In the summer we need a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, right back and maybe another centre back as we can't rely on Stones as a strong breeze injures him.
The missus just said it's because Pep knows it doesn't matter because we're getting a points deduction.
Would explain a lot I suppose.
Club do seem to be behaving like we're taking a hit this season.
We never win at home
We never win away
We lost last week
And we're gonna lose today...

Title race thread
Pep better be withdrawing players from the international break
Is the title gone? No; of course not. It's only the second week in November. But it's going to take the mother of all turn arounds in our form. Which we're well capable of doing, though it's hard to see it right now. What's the upper limit of defeats before the title becomes nigh on impossible? 5? We've lost two already.
We are digging ourselves into a hole here. 11 games, 23 points, thats about 79-80 points over a season.
yet to play Villa, dippers, rags, Spurs two times can see some bogey results in there...

I am worried Spurs will come to the Etihad next game, use their pace and counters to hurt us and we fold easily these days. not sure some people coming back from injuries hadnt played for long weeks can help us straightaway.
3 PL losses in a row, can happen if we dont improve...
chance of some players come back injured due to international games is around 100% if its Haaland or Kovacic well...

we are in a puddle mentally and tactically as well. and all the injuries. but individual form of some players is horrible too.
wonder what G+A Foden will have once we reach half of PL games this season. 2 goal and 2 assists maybe? some players do that in one game sometimes...
about the same as our wingers.
Worst case scenario we’re 5 points off the top. The title race doesn’t start til Easter and if we’re within 5 points then we’ve as good as won it.

That will be hard to do though because Liverpool will have 100 points by then on account of them being very unlikely to drop any more points
Only 5 clean sheets in all competitions, seems very much like the 1st season Pep was here
where is the supposed drop off from Slot changing Klopp. most reviews and predictions were about dippers likely have a transition season while their new manager learns into the PL. him winning the title in his debut season was even optimistic for some of the cultists over there.

it will be ridiculous if Slot with his Eredivisie experience comes in and delivers a title with 12 months of taking over from Klopp.

hope the dip in form is coming up for them soon albeit have to say did not expect this new manager start so well for them. especially after their transfer window where they only had one big target (Zubimendi) and failed on him. problem is Slot managed to get great form out of many players early on, something Pep could not yet this season.
fucker old Salah now 8G + 6A just in PL at round 11, which is more than Grealish, Doku, Savinho, Foden, Gundo, Bernardo combined. imagine if that is true over the whole PL season, surely not because if yes we are fucked
We will be 11 points behind the dippers on 1st December.
There's no way we're defending the title this season. Best we can aim for is to secure a top 4 spot. Then, in the spring, maybe make a push for the Champions League if everyone’s back to full fitness by then. And in the summer, we need to sign some top-quality players, no question about it.
Slot is very possibly going to win the league because he has settled squad with a world class player in Salah and lots of goal scorers throughout the team. He has tightened Liverpool defensively and at the same time his two main rivals are underperforming. In our case massively so.

Liverpool will smell blood against us when we go to Anfield. Our midfield issues run too deep for a quick fix. Kovacic is a decent player but he couldn’t cover for Gundogan last season and definitely can’t cover for Rodri this season.

Liverpool will annihilate us on the counter if we play like we gave recently.
We knew our luck had completely abandonded us with Bobb's injury before the Chelsea game.
I hate Liverpool with every ounce of my body for attacking our bus but I'd prefer they win it than Arsenal because they are cunts who intentionally injured Rodri
Liverpool now favourites with the bookies
I wouldn't be bothered who if not us but just can't forget the coach attack. We would have won the Champions League I am sure but for that.

Reading through the Manc posts - they are not so delusional in terms of seeing the drop and a realization that the midfield they have is not really good enough. They have no athletes in that midfield who can run coz they are either too old or not that type of player, and also some serious injuries. But hey - we have had injuries and bad luck for many seasons while challenging them - and no one ever cried for us so fuck them.

Other games thread which is only 17 pages which shows they are lottery winners with a 12 gauge in their mouths.

More hope than great expectatikon but we could with Villa doing us a favour
TNT commentators calling out Villa’s time wasting saying the ref needs to sort it out. 14 minutes in.

Where’s this type of energy when teams religiously do it to us?!
1-0
Why don’t we do that on opposition corners?

Liverpool have 4/5 players streaming forward at pace.

We catch it, slow it down and start the hypnotic passes around the back again.

Wank corner Villa led to that
Not sure why they are crying here
Villa pen shout, nothing given of course
Given the other way. That’s a pen, what has he seen there ?
Imagine if it was us , no foul according to Lee Dixon
Tront injured before an meaningless international.
Villa as bad as city defending counters
I dread to think how many Haaland would score in this dippers team!
How fucking hard is it for a top pro footballer to beat the 1st man from a corner. Shit Villa and should be 2 down
Villa playing like City here.

Fuckin shite haha
Liverpool haven’t even been good here. Villa have been absolutely dog shit. Watkins dragging a shot wide that he’d be scoring against us
Villa have been awful.
Are they playing our tactics? ; )
Them overtaking the rags would be the only saving grace, should the worst happen.
It's bizarre, everytime players miss chances they'd score with their eyes shut against us
there is so much different how teams set up against City or Liverpool. its just clear as day
Villa doesnt press at all
Liverpool aren’t all that.
Has that Bailey had a good game since tearing us a new arsehole last season?!
Teams take much better corners and free kicks than us.
most of there games have been 50/50 games they are topp and all that and look must likely but they are not close to been as good as Klopps team who got 90 + points
but this team is on course for 97 points dont get it they must at some point drop points
Come on Villa you horrible cunts
2-0
That’ll be that.
hoofball to salah and he scores
That’s that then.
The Villa set piece coach looks like a crack head the Villa team bus picked up on the way to the ground.
I remember when we had wingers who could score
Stuffy fuckin rats get another lucky ricochet.
Salah is a ridiculous finisher. One of the best ever
Villa as bad as us. Can’t put a proper corner in and toss goals away
These have got a gimme against Southampton next and then us at Anfield…

That games already huge.
Angin if Arsenal win tomorrow. Proper snide weekend
They will win the PL quite easily this season. Just have too many players who can put the ball into the net, unlike us.
It pains me to say it but they are looking good, full of energy and scoring goals.
Everything we are not unfortunately.

i can’t be arsed checking their squad in detail but it feels like it has the same failings we were moaning about a while ago - the top dogs being late 20’s / 30’s and some promising youngsters but not a huge amount between.

pretty funny that they sold cole palmer too

I said it a few years ago that they were 8-18 months behind us.

I've been saying it for 2 seasons at least - they have not replaced class with class. Overall the standard of their squad has dropped as it has aged. They are done.

The problem with peps team, and it is similar to klopp teams; is that there's only a few select players in world football who can play exactly how they want.

We struggled more when Bobby became less effective, as our system needed that type of player. Klopp likes to mould players to be what he wants. Peps similar. They need rodri(fernandinho before that) and de bruyne to open up the field.

Early doors, but slots system seems more versatile and could change depending on who's playing. Most telling time would be if Salah or gravy got an injury.

Darwin is playing a lot more like Bobby this season than he did the past two, which is a bit unfortunate.

Bobby was a gliding feather and Nunez is a sledgehammer.
We all thought he has turned over a new leaf under Slot lately but yesterday we were happy he scored and then realized he is the same old Darwin - missing those two other chances.

Did anyone think after he scored his goal and the reaction of Slot was a bit tainted - it felt like he would have preferred that defender to be sent off after bringing down Salah rather than us scoring.

don’t think i witnessed slots reaction at all but it would make sense. i think we cruise to an easy 3-0 against ten men with a lot less miles on the clock

So is the rule that there is no VAR review for a red card if we score?
I think that he can't be sent off because quite clearly his actions did not deny a goal scoring opportunity, because, well, we scored. However, he still committed a cynical challenge and should certainly have been booked. The problem there is that Coote thought it was a completely fair challenge and indicated as such as it happened. Because he is completely incompetent.

He denied Salah scoring, though. The position of attacking players do not come into it AFAIK. It's about the position of defenders in relation to Salah taking the ball on and scoring.

The factors are

Distance to goal, direction of play, likelihood of control and defenders position. If that's correct then the defender could and should have seen red.
