I just hope this long term strategy from Klopp to lure City into a false sense of security by being shite in every early kick off actually works!!!

Rumored team has Matip and Jota starting.

Alisson, Trent, Matip, Virgil, Tsimikas, Szobo, Macca, Jones, Salah, Nunez, Jota

We have to start Jones imo, his work rate and pressing game is so criminally underappreciated by so many on this forum. He's also good receiving the ball under pressure, something we'll need today.

Curtis is also very good out wide - which we’ll need if Jota is on the left, because he’ll drift inside more.

Additionally he’s also good at pressing high.

I’d imagine it’s fitness data driven? The last three weeks must have taken its toll on his physiology somewhere, but all the better that he comes on hungry and running at tired legs..
Most likely. I love Jota but feel we’d get more joy out of Diaz on the counter than Jota. He has a hatful of goals and fuck all assists this season for a reason.

Been ages since I tuned in for pre-game chat an hour and half before kick off. Doesn’t get any harder game wise than City away.

Damn. I was hoping Konate would be fit to start. And Diaz on the left but then again Jota is a better goal scorer and we won't have many opportunities so that front three makes a lot of sense.

I'm happy to see Klopp has kept Nunez in for the hassle and pace value - keep their back line honest and not let them press up too high without a penalty.

Two interesting sides, they seem to be fielding a very attacking XI and we’re seemingly not compromising our setup for the toughest of tests

Just imagine we coming into this off the back of conceding 4 Chelsea - we’d be shitting a brick…now think about their defence anticipating our front line facing them today.

I hope we absolutely storm the first 20 mins…

I think Klopp is thinking defence first.
I like the line up.There's a reason Jones and Jota are starting.

The pace in City’s attacking wide areas gives me the fear.

Klopp sounding very attacking :

Jurgen Klopp speaks: “A little bit of what Chelsea did, when they were super aggressive and unpredictable,” says Liverpool’s manager, upon being asked by Sky Sports how his side c an beat Manchester City. “Everyone who pressed made the final step … these kinds of things. The respect they create, the threat they are, it holds you back from time to time because nobody wants to look silly.

Everyone expecting goals - that’s means it’ll be a disappointing 0-0 with few chances.

Imo Jones is in his first XI this season if he’s fit, he could’ve included Endo and Gomez if it was really defence first. Although i don’t think Endo is trusted at all.
