Uhm, yes.

Was Lampard a better player than Gerrard because he ended up with more goals in less games than him and won more prem titles than him? No.

There aren’t many better goalscorers than him if any but that alone isn’t enough to proclaim being the best player, a better footballer means having more to your game, defensive as well as attacking. Passing as much as shooting. Creating as much as scoring. Is it starting to make a bit of sense to you now?

Is Haaland a better player than Kane or Firmino because he scores more goals? Fuck off is he, wash your mouth out.
It’s an embarrassing comparison just stop. Haaland was robbed of the Balon dor and your putting a player that many fans wanted to see the back of ahead of him. I love Nunez but this is the kind shit that makes it to rivals fans forums and they laugh at our fucking delusion.
Just stop it.

This fixture in the recent past has been about how much the City midfield is better than ours.

Tomorrow will be an insight into just how much our new midfield has improved us.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Jürgen Klopp told that Manchester City have won each of their last 23 home matches.... "Well, I know that the longer a run is going, the more likely it is that it ends..."

They are a settled team and won the treble last season.

We are - despite our surprisingly good start - a team in transition that finished 5th last season.

Obviously we have a chance but they are clearly the favourites.

Yes, agreed. Its an even match up and it will probably be decided by fine margins and luck on the day. Taking your chances and if certain big calls go your way or not. Seeing its at the Ethiad and that the ref is a former City season ticket holder I'm not holding my breath, but we've got a great chance.

Would be just lovely to beat them and without any VAR controversy for post match discussions to take away any sort of glory for the win.
Maybe that will work in our favour. Neither he nor PGML will want a furore regarding any decision he makes.

This is borderline hubris, no offence. Us going to Manchester and beating them is an upset.
My attitude would be different if we played at home.

This does not give me any confidence
Actually that's near enough a 50% chance of a win or a draw!

less than 20 hours to go and I’m no more positive about this:

Dreamy started the thread
Haaland is a beast up front
Dreamy started the thread
Tsimikas has only had one decent half all season
Dreamy started the thread
Rodri is the current definition of centre midfield control
Dreamy started the thread
Four of our (potential) starters are dealing with jet lag

oh …. And Dreamy started the thread

How about this:

Ali

Gomez
Konate
Van Dijk
Tsimi

Trent
Macca
Szobo

Etc.

Trent and Macca in a double pivot

No no no. We lose the width the midfielders give us and we are now relying on the FBs to get forward - nightmare with all that space in behind them. I want them rooted to the HW line and let the midfielders and attackers do the job up top.

Blue Moon going with 80% win, 12% draw, 8% loss

Main concern is Haaland had “niggles” in training

So, playing away against a super strong attacking team, it’s natural (and probably right) to want to add one more defensive player to the mix. Personally, I would go for Endo rather than Gomez or someone else. He seems very adept at progressing the ball forward and will free up MacAllister from always having to hold the position in front of the defence; he could also drop into the back line to allow Konate to deal with the threat of Doku on the wing.

At LB Tsimikas or Gomez are both likely to make mistakes under pressure, but the build-up patterns will flow more naturally with a left-footed player, so I think there is no alternative - just pray for Tsimi to produce the best performance he is capable of.

4-2-3-1:
-——————Alisson——————
———-Konate———VVD————
—Trent————-————-Tsimikas
————MacAllister—Endo———-
——————-Szoboszlai————-
Salah———-Nunez———-—-Diaz

I also think MacAllister will be gassed after 65 minutes and that’s when depending on the score either Gravenberch or Jones will come in - maybe the game will become less structured by then and Gravvy’s ability to eat up yards progressing the ball could be useful and if we’re protecting the lead Jones is the best “keep-ball” midfielder we have. Jota for Diaz should also be a pre-planned substitution. Finally, Konate will probably not play all 97 minutes in his first match back from injury, so Matip should be expected to come on at some point.

I'd also like to be surprised with Endo and Mac starting. But I would be surprised.

Good to see the old guard when it comes to analysis. Instead of the current lot, some of whom can't actually string a sentence together.

All depends on energy levels. If we can get at them like Chelsea then we have a great chance, but considering it's after international duty, away from home and a 1230 kick off doesn't make he optimistic. I think we'd batter them under the lights at Anfield, but these circumstances play more into their favour than our own.
