Half time thoughts:
- Mourinho will get the plaudits for 'shutting down Klopp in the first 45 minutes,' but I think it's more to the fact the team is adjusting to not having Lallana and Gini, two technically intelligent players who pressure actively and create constant headaches for teams when they lose the ball.
- Firmino is having a poor game ... I think he'd be playing much better if he was up front, with Coutinho & Mane interchanging with him. Studge is basically around the middle - and it's not giving us enough movement to be that dangerous.
- Defense has been pretty solid -
- Taylor should have shown a yellow earlier (Herrera) but glad he's given Young one. Jose "Our players don't surround the refs" Mourinho will obviously be appalled.
- Can is very slow on the ball - and that means he's slowing down promising attacks far too often.
- I don't think we have a player on the bench who can give us the same style that a Lallana or Gini give us, which means we'll struggle the rest of the game ...
If they've parked a bus, they've left it in our half, because they spent more time in it than we did in theirs
I'm expecting to see sturridge off, if not at half time, very soon after.

Emre seemed rusty at first but he started playing a whole lot better later in the half.
Our back four are doing well. No complaints there.

Firmino has been our best player so far. Winning balls, creating, driving forward.
Sturridge is being isolated and has about 15 defenders on him it seems. But he's been sloppy anyhow.

We really miss Wijnaldum and Lallana in midfield and Coutinho seems to be very ineffective playing in that midfield role. Mainly because Man U aren't letting have a second on the ball.

Lallana is on the bench .. sure we'll see him sooner rather than later.
Disagree on Firmino, I think he's playing well, he occupies 2-3 defenders almost every time he's on the ball, and he and Coutinho look like they can work an opening or two.
Can doesn't look 'match aware'. He's missed more than a couple of chances to get the ball early to Mane. Sturridge has been shite, we need the ball to stick to him when he gets it.
Bring Benteke on
United have been better and Mourinho's plan is working. But you can see they are worried about us and avoid attacking in numbers. I think our lackluster performance so far is down to some nerves as well as losing Gini and Lallana – Can looked really rusty, but started to get into the game by the end of the half. Sturridge has been poor throughout. The positive is that we didn't allow United to create much even when under pressure. Need a better performance in the 2nd half and I think we'll get it.
Coutinho and Firmino have both been inspired, I think. Just need to get them both playing a bit further up the pitch.
