Heh, I don't rate Hodgson but seeing his quotes dissected to shite is just painful, I thought he was fairly honest there.

Agreed, it's very tiresome. But I will say he should shut up and win a few matches. I'm tired of his ramblings and quotes. Win us a game man.

This game is Roy Hodgson's first opportunity to show his mettle. It's the time to show fans that it wasn't his instructions that caused the poor performances but loss of morale among players due to uncertainty.

The politics of the club cannot be used as an excuse now. This weekend the focus will be on him and the players. He's not going to get the sack soon, Henry doesn't know enough to make that call.

If we lose today's game the chatter will continue amongst us but Henry will see a man employed for only three months and won't move until he himself can see a reason to change.

He doesnt know enough to sack him?

So he cant read league tables? Fuck off.

He's an exceptionally good business man, he got there by firing people who couldnt perform, so I think he'll be as ruthless as he has to be.

If we get battered today he's gone. He draws he gets napoli and blackburn. He wins he gets til christmas to turn it round.

First impressions are crucial

In fairness, we had the same hopes for G&H after the apparent lacklustre management from Moores and Parry all those years. We were to become a ruthless, well oiled corporate monster.

Henry and NESV have a better CV and the Red Sox gives us an almost perfect example to look at, but I'm going to take Henry's advice and wait and see what they actually do before making assumptions about their leadership.

I don't think they'll sack Hodgson yet, regardless of how ruthless they will eventually be, they've only just arrived. The pressure is on though.

I hope you're right. I didn't want Hodgson employed in the first place.

If he's replaces Hodgson quickly I'd agree wholeheartedly.

It's just my cynicism that leads me to believe things will get worse before they get better.

Powerful people usually need to see for themselves before they rely solely on statistics and other's opinions, in my experience.

I dont think an assumption that someone who understands sports would be unhappy with a team at the bottom of the table & no wins in the league & look to make a change is on par with our hopes of H&G though.

Ha, well that's true. "Losing" is pretty much a universal concept that anyone is going to be able to recognize.

Exactly.

If we lose today, anyone, even someone who has never seen a football or a match in their lives, would be able to understand the situation just by looking at the league table & being told we had a new manager this season.

Today feels like the first game of the season again. We need a point at the least but I think it's more about the performance, Roy needs to show the fans that things are changing and the players are finding there way using his methods.

If we go out in a derby and are as toothless as we have been then we can only hope that NESV act quickly and make a change, bring in Kenny for the time being and look for the perfect candidate.

Perfect way to put it mate, it does feel like the start of the season.

Liverpool Football Club has been reborn, I'm convinced of it, but what happens on the pitch is the foundation on what our club is, & what our club can be, & until we start winning matches again there'll be a massive hole in our club.

Good post, completely agree.

Hodgson will have no excuses today. He needs to get us a win and show he can turn it around. If not he just has to go. Accept that this job is not for him.

He was brought in to "steady the ship" not bloody sink it with all the players inside.

Everton have Jagielka, Rodwell, Pienaar, Saha and Fellaini out. We should be able to beat their reserves.

[/quote]

We are missing Poulsen, Aurelio, Agger, Johnson, Kuyt and Lucas' brain though.

I have bet on a 0-0, on the basis that both clubs have too much to lose. My forecast is that it will be one of those Derby matches in which both sides run round like headless chickens, kicking lumps out of each other in midfield.

Of course I could be wrong ..........

The quote about 'maybe it is just a bit of dust' was as bizarrely enigmatic as Cantona's infamous 'seagulls' quote. What the fuck is it supposed to mean?

I read an interview with Hodgson the other day which said, 'I've got three years on my contract so if they want to sack me presumably they'll have to pay me three years' wages.' That was fucking unbelievable. It's like he's just waiting to be dumped. It also contradicts what Broughton said about his contract. Maybe Roy couldn't read the small print?

Two. One each.

I beleive Broughton said there's a clause that says they can remove him with new ownership, but I read elsewhere the normal compensation would have to be paid, it simply means we dont have to sack him as such, but let him go in accordance with that clause.

If Roy really said that then I'm fucking disgusted, it's shocking.

It has to eventually go right. One game where the players say "enough is enough".

Go out and show your worth lads.

Any official team news yet?

Roy's busy trying to remember it.
